Goldmember
The point of the show was to question the way that we think of women as body parts--and the way we just objectify the body parts to sexualize them. By censoring them, I think it really not only stifled the free expression but really proved the point of the artists. i think these artists meant to "push the envelope," like most major modern art movements have meant to do, and probably could have produced art that wasn't as appalling to those who disliked it but could have still made the viewer come to the same conclusion. however, since i haven't seen the show i cannot really comment on such things with a great degree of certainty. knightni
Basically, the whole campus has been in an uproar--and there has been a lot of talk about is there room for art like this on a Christian campus. Or is this art at all--or is it just porn? Thoughts? Well, 9 out of 10 Christian or Religious colleges are privatized. In that way, the school can inforce the rules as they see fit. I'm sure as a Freshman, you and others, signed something that effectively gave up your rights while a student there.
YASNY
When it comes to nudity, American's are so prudish in their views. I honestly believe if you took 1000 people with their kids present and showed them a movie scene where a man shoots someone between the eyes, and another where a man kisses a woman's breast, most people would react negatively to the breast scene. And when you think about it, that is really sad.
DBAHO
In the spirit of free inquiry and free expression, Free expression huh? Not in this case. Excellent point too YASNY.

cwsox
He makes a quote like that and I need to grow up? Please... Lots of folks need to grow up. Back in the 1969 I took my girlfriend to the Museum of Contemporary Art and when we entered into the lower level much to our surprise was a brand new exhibit, wall to wall the whole ower level, of photographs of vaginas. When you are both 16, that comes as a bit of an eye opener. Both of us being cool, we strolled the exhibit and looked at it is we would any other art. And the point was made. The same point as the young woman you described who sat with the veil with the sign "I am not poronograhy." To even things out, when I was newly married we went through the fertility things and my part of that was to go to an andrologist. The office was fileld with posters and various scale models of penis' (penii? penises?). That made me a tad bit uncomfortable... but after a few moments, the point becomes the same -
Spiff
He makes a quote like that and I need to grow up? Please... He didn't quote you talking about the exhibit, how do you know he wasn't talking about how Jason said he could spill soda on the rug and call it art? Why didnt you call him out on that, when he obscenely compared spilled soda to a woman's body. You do need to grow up because you're just trying to push buttons in order to get people to back off and agree with you.
knightni
I am sure they didn't. I take it you've never gone to a private christian college then. It's called a "code of ethics and standards" ie. the college administration's ethics and standards.

You are so wrong, so very wrong, in many more ways than one never make a statement unless you already know the answer and guess what type of institution I got my MDiv from?
