Rex Hudler
Anyone want to make any predictions? Mr. Bullard, I'd love to hear your thoughts, however I would understand if you don't feel comfortable jumping in here....

Bullard
The rosters are far from set, but I have a pretty good idea who will be in Bham. Starters: Honel, Wing, Meaux, Phillips and Yofu/Wylie Relievers: Bullard, Ulacia, Bajenaru, Smith, Fields, and one or two of the following: Yofu/Darvin Withers/Kris Keller/Darrin Ebert/Brian McNichol Infielders/Catchers: 1B McNeal/Becker 2B Yan 3B Shaffer/Sasser/Cameron SS Morse/Reyes C Rosa/Stewart Outfielders: Welsh, Spidale, Martel, Blakely Those are basically all the guys on our working roster right now. But I have learned that nothing is set in stone until we are actually in Bham. As for Charlotte I have no idea about the position guys but the pitchers look like they will include 12 of the following: Cotts, Rauch, Diaz, Munoz, Sanders, Ginter, Adkins, Majewski, Duncan, Pacheco, Stewart, Darensbourg, Santiago, Wylie, Ebert, McNichol, Keller We still have a ton of pitchers in camp so anything can still happen! DBAHO
I'd say the starting rotation at Charlotte would be pretty set with Cotts, Rauch, Diaz, Stewart and Pacheco. And then you would hav Adkins, Sanders, Munoz, Ginter and 2 other pitchers in da pen.
ChiSox_Sonix
Charlotte: Cotts Rauch Sanders Stewart Diaz Pacheco Munoz Ginter Adkins Yofu Baj Rivera Reed Borchard Hankins Reyes Bikowski just off the top of my head
Rex Hudler
Bull, got some questions for you......... 1. Who is Sasser? 2. What about Aceves and Maldonado at C? If Burke doesn't make the MLB roster, Charlotte will have him and Riviera, plus Hankins as a third catcher. I would think that could Carlos back to Birmingham. 3. What are the chances Shaffer ends up in AAA? 4. Where is Tommy Nicholson? 5. What about Jaisen Randolph? Is he still in camp? 6. Richard Paz? 7. Martel/Spidale - discuss 8. Meaux in the rotation?? 9. What about Wyatt Allen? 10. Could Bikowski get squeezed back to Birmingham with Borchard, Reed and Valenzuela all slated for Charlotte? What about Nate Murphy? That's more than enough for now. Feel free to answer any or all you are comfortable with. Thanks for taking the time........
Heads22
Jim, how are things going for you overall in Tucson, if you don't mind answering?
Bullard
Jesus H, Rex!! You are a machine when it comes to questions. I'll answer as much as I can. Rob Sasser 3B in the Orioles org. last year Ace or Carlos could still end up in Bham (one or both of them) Hank and Rivera will be catching for sure in Charlotte, but Hank will play other positions as well. i think Burke might make the big club as the 3rd catcher/utility guy Shaffer = Triple A= probably not any time soon T Nick is gonna be utility in Bham or Winston Randolph is in camp but cant do anything because of some equillibrium problem. I dont really know him too well Paz will probably be in Charlotte in a utility role Wyatt is headed back to Winston along with An, Stumm and Purvis Martel/Spidale will be in Bham because 1. there are too many OF's in low A and high A ie. Sweeney, Anderson, Nanita, Brice, Young, Ciraco, etc. and 2. they are both Razor's boys and he wants to have the guys he wants with him I think and 3. they both play solid D and we need guys like that to cover ground at the Met, not to mention they can hit a bit too Meaux was converted to a starter last week. I actually just found that out yesterday. That is good for me I guess and since he can throw 3 pitches for strikes and is learning a cutter, he fits the mold of a starter. And finally, as you well know Rex there are always surprises that abound so it is possible that there could be some fireworks before everything is said and done Wow that was a lot of s***! Hope I helped a bit!
Rex Hudler
Interesting stuff, Bull..... some of it jived with things I have heard, some didn't. What about Biko? I am afraid with Reed, Borchard and Valenzuela, he may end up back in B'ham which would be a shame because he deserves to be up. Sounds like Martel and Spidale are similar players. Is Martel as fast as Spidale? Allen, Stumm, Purvis and An all going back to Winston surprises me. My hunch is that some guys get traded or released yet, since there are so many extra pitchers. I just can't see all of those guys heading to W-S. Maybe one or two. but it would really surprise me if it plays out with all of them going back there. Any truth to another LH reliever whose name begins with an M, being converted to a starter?? I heard something second hand that seemed a bit off the wall, but not completely. Don't want to say more at this point, because it could be erroneous. Am I killing you yet?? LOL
Bullard
THere is some of talk of A.M. being converted but I dont know for sure. Martel is fast, Spidale probably faster.

Guest JimH
Great stuff Jim B. and Rex. Where else can you get the inside scoop but on SoxTalk? I'd be a little surprised if they converted Arnie Munoz to starter just yet. I thought maybe they'd try to stretch him out a little this year ... have him go 2 innings in relief, something like that. I hope Wyatt Allen puts it together in W-S and starts moving up the ladder. Great arm, but control issues ... must be mechanics. Would also like to see Baj get a shot, seems to me he's proven about all he can at AA. Hopefully he's the first guy on the list for Charlotte. Adkins could be at Charlotte too, if he doesn't beat out Mike Jackson for the last bullpen spot. If I were a betting man, my guess would be Ozzie wants the veteran (Jackson) since it looks like they'll carry Grilli, at least for the time being. I saw Grilli pitch one game in Tucson and he's throwing the ball extremely well, loose and easy. Seems like everybody gets lit up once or twice in spring training, so maybe that Seattle fiasco can be thrown out the window. His fastball is nasty and really has some good late movement. I will still say if Grilli is healthy and stays healthy, he will help this team. But there are LOTS of guys ready and willing to fill that long relief role if he's not up to the task. My sense with Guillen is, if they don't perform, see ya.

Show us the numbers that would enable Jackson to beat out Adkins, who has put up a consistently outstanding performance with 6.0 IP in 5 games with an 0.00 ERA. Rex Hudler
Really? Show us the numbers that would enable Jackson to beat out Adkins, who has put up a consistently outstanding performance with 6.0 IP in 5 games with an 0.00 ERA. It may not have anything to do with numbers. It may have everything to do with experience and Jackson has it. If Ozzie is more confident going with the veteran guy, Adkins numbers won't mean squat. If he is not confident in Jackson, then Adkins has a shot. FWIW, Matt Guerrier had basically the same exact numbers with the Twins and he was sent down to AAA over the weekend. Then go troll for an argument elsewhere. Do you actually posess an original thought, or do you just puppy me around and copy and paste all my posts? Funny, you don't seem to respond over at BHZ, I guess there's no one to go whining to. In answer to your question (edit: MY original question to YOU), it may have a lot more to do with a veteran presence vs. numbers. If your baseball knowledge were any more than that of the average insect, you might in fact understand the issue. I am now specifically asking you ... no, actually TELLING you ... to quite trolling on me for an argument Charlie. Go get your Chuckles elsewhere. MnSoxFan
BULL/REX, is Stumm going to start or relieve at Win-Sal. I hate to think he couldn't stick in AA, surprised about An too, he pitched well at AA last year.
