DBAHO
Here's da article, Rosenthal's Piece White Sox: A speedy utility man who could bat leadoff is their top priority. The desired profile is a Mark McLemore/Tony Womack-type who could play second base, enabling Willie Harris to spell Aaron Rowand in center, and also third, giving Joe Crede an occasional breather. Marlon Anderson, about to be dumped by the Cardinals, and Alex Cora, the younger brother of White Sox coach Joey Cora, are two possibilities, though neither is particularly appealing. The Cardinals just picked up Womack from Boston for what I was led to believe was a mid-level prospect.
upnorthsox
Anderson is a headcase, stay far far away. Cora has only 1 yr where he was getting on base consistently plus you don't know about his relationship with brother Joey, he's also never played 3rd and he's been out all spring with a broken arm. upnorthsox
Robin is having a bad spring for LA and there's a chance he might be let go, hell let's bring him back and have a reunion!!!!! I'd rather have him than Burke or Dransfeldt.

moochpuppy
The Cardinals just picked up Womack from Boston for what I was led to believe was a mid-level prospect. They got Womack for a 29 year old minor league pitcher (Matt Duff).
SuperSteve
UNS, what makes you say Anderson is a headcase? I have never heard that. Only thing I could even imagine as being considered headcaseable, is when he and Kendall got into a fight last season (may have been two seasons ago). That is it, I would take a chance on the guy, why not?
upnorthsox
Headcase was probably a little strong(heh it was 3:30 in the morning when I wrote that ), difficult is what I recollect out of Philly but then who isn't with Bowa as manager. Still, he was cut by the D-Rays and now St Louis, doesn't that tell ya something? He's also never played anything but 2nd in the majors. OZZ-fest 2004
I don't want any of the guys Rosenthal mentioned. I'm happy for right now with what we have. I don't think anybody mentioned is hands down better than who we currently have. I wouldn't give up any prospects for anybody mentioned either. israel4ever
I'd like Ventura back, for a lefty bat with some pop!
Dick Allen
I'd like Ventura back, for a lefty bat with some pop! That's the problem. The "pop" in his bat is history.
YASNY
They got Womack for a 29 year old minor league pitcher (Matt Duff). Which is why I qualified that by sayins "I was led to believe". That's what I get for listening to a young Cardinal fan.
upnorthsox
This would've been a nice pickup for us: Astros acquired infielder Mike Lamb from the Yankees for RHP Juan De Leon. Manager Jimy Williams isn't a Morgan Ensberg fan, but Lamb isn't being acquired to compete for time at third base. He should be primarily a pinch-hitter, giving him minimal value in NL-only leagues. This apparently settles the competition for the final spot on the team's bench. Eric Bruntlett will head back to Triple-A, and John Valentin could return home. In De Leon, the Yankees are getting an A-ball reliever who struck out 46 and walked 22 in 39 1/3 innings last year.
