If your gonna make a poll, put some good prospects on them instead of average ones (Meaux, Stewart, Pachaeo, etc..) BTW, I would say Honel cause of his track record, but I like Munoz also. If he hadn't gotten hurt, I'm guessing he would have had a great year along with McCarthy and would be wherever McCarthy will be this year (Kanny?) I'm a bit worried because his K/IP ratio has been steadily falling, but he has been great. Might not project to be a #1 (although if Kris' velo hits the mid 90's like some Sox people say....damn) but looks to be a very solid #2 as of now. Diaz: Electric arm, just can't but it together. I'd love to see him sent to the pen and just air it out from there. Has a mid 90's fastball as well as a good slider, typical of most Dominican Pedro wannabe's. Could be interesting to see him in the pen. Munoz: The Sox need to make up their mind if they want Munoz to be a reliever or starter. With Marte signed for 3+ years as well as the emerging of Ryan Meaux and David Sanders, I think he'll become a starter quite soon. Evil, evil curveball. Pacheco: Kind of along the lines of Diaz, has to develop a changeup to be a successful starter. Malone: I feel for this guy. Still young, but his time is running out. Meaux: As much as I love Meaux, he's going to have to keep up his great control. If he starts missing spots, his mid 80's fastball is going to get demolished. Could be an interesting case out of the pen (Chris Hammonds, anyone?). Wing: If Wing gets his mechanics repetitive and the walks go down, look out. Deadly to lefties. Rauch: Needs a change of scenery, enough said. Cotts: Potential abound, just has to reign in his control. If he does, look out. A notch below Honel in my mind. Stewart: I don't see him succeeding at the big league level, but I admire his fight after coming back from a vicious line drive to the chest. I wish him the best of luck, he deserves it. McCarthy: I love him....but he needs to produce like he has been for a full year, not just SS. If he can reproduce last year at Kanny and W-S, he'll be a top 5 prospect w/in the organization. Gotta love the K:BB ratio! Haigwood: Was rated as having the best curve in the 2002 draft (prep, not overall, I think) but the leg injury is a bit dicey. Big ceiling, impressive track record at the HS level. Lopez: If he can keep up his progress at Low-A, I'd be estatic. R Rodriguez: I know a bunch of people who are very high on Ryan, but I'm not one of them. I like Haigwood loads more. Fabio Castro: Wins the award for the best name in the Sox organization, and is along the same lines as Munoz (tiny!) without the curve. Impressive. If I were to give a list of 5-6 guys...I'd only include starters, simply because typically they are the best prospects...not always, but typically. Honel, Cotts, Wing are the top 3. Then I have McCarthy. I don't think much of Rauch and Pacheco is probably 5th on that list because he had such a truly great year, but he's going to have to back it up this year. Sleepers are definately Haigwood, Orionny, Ryan Rodriguez, and Fabio Castro. I'd consider Munoz a sleeper, especially with the Sox moving him to the rotation...I'm assuming he will go back to Bham, but maybe they will keep him in Charlotte. Either way...that is gonna be one filthy rotation in Birmingham with the likes of Wing, Honel, Meaux, Munoz, etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
