Cottsfan24
I think Willie Harris should be starten at second cuz of speed, fielding, and good contact. Juan Uribes alright i just think Willie should be started for the sox Heres the stats from spring training Chicago White Sox Hitting, 2004: Player Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB SB CS SF SH HBP SLG AVG W Harris CWS 16 53 10 16 4 2 0 6 24 5 4 0 3 0 .453 .302 J Uribe CWS 18 52 13 13 4 1 4 9 31 1 0 1 2 0 .596 .
southsider2k5
Willie seems to be gelling right now, I would reluctantly give it to him. Plus I also like Uribe as the utility guy for now. If Willie hits even .250 he will be dangerous on base in front of the real hitters.
winninguglyin83
we need: somebody who can run at the top of the order and a left-handed stick. all I'm saying, is giving Willie his chance
SkokieSox
Not only that but Uribe can play SS and third in a utility role. Willie can't do that. Willie needs to be the second baseman.
UofIChiSox
The job is and should be Willie's to lose, but it never hurts to have Uribe breathing down his neck.
rafacosta
Willie agst righties. Uribe agst lefties.
Goldmember
i agree with what everyone has said so far. willie should be our starting 2nd baseman. he's done well in spring training, especially with the bat which is always good to see. i haven't been able to catch any of our st games so i don't know how he's doing on defense which is everyone's main concern with him. Many people were just upset that we didn't go and get a premeire FA. Harris will struggle from time to time, but IMO he has earned the right to start at second. He has a lot of upside with Guillen teaching him to be a quality lead off man. His attitude seems to be get on base for the big boys, and that's step one. I like what I see to date. OZZ-fest 2004
Can I have a third choice? Honestly, I'd like to see both of them get good time there. They both have pretty decent upsides, but they need to play regularly.

Willie can back up Rowand in center once in awhile and play the majority of games at 2b. Uribe can then play 2b once a week or against lefties and also spell Valentin when needed. I think both of them will be able to get quite a few at bats.
israel4ever
None of the above. Let's get Izturis from LA, and put Jose at 2b; OR let's get Alfonso Soriano!

greasywheels121
William Harris deserves to start there to start the season. I feel he can do what Durham did here; he'll be fine. I like having Uribe off the bench.
hammerhead johnson
Clearly Izturis is the answer --- He had a career high OBP of .282 last year. WOW. Yeah, that is ugly. But I'd imagine that he could get that OBP up to around .310 if he was on the Sox. LA is the most pitcher-friendly park in the majors. SoxAce
Of course it's Willie. I wouldn't mind a DP combo of Harris and Uribe next year though.
CSF
Rotoworld's take on Willie as of today: Willie Harris went 3-for-4 today to raise his average to .302. Harris was batting .235 when we checked in on him six days ago. He's solidified his hold on a starting job, not that his status was in much doubt in the first place. GASHWOUND
we need: somebody who can run at the top of the order and a left-handed stick. all I'm saying, is giving Willie his chance Willie being a speedy left-handed stick guarantees him the job... The same tune keeps being sung...we have one to many right handers in the line-up....That's why it always seem we wanna replace a guy like Rowand..not that if he played the entire year at CF he wouldn't do a good job, we just need some balance in the line up. We thought Borchard would be the guy, but that's not happening.. So Willie is gonna get the chance...hope he does well, cause for us to succeed we need him to do well.
