Texsox
We have one sports talk station and they get the ESPN feeds. I believe Mike and Mike in the morning is the worst show imaginable. I honestly cannot listen most days. I think the Dan Patrick show is outstanding, I'm going to miss Tony the orange one. Our one hour of local programming is unbelievably bad. Just not enough callers to choose from to have 100% intelligent talk. They wind up having to put on drunk winter Texans to fill the time. Sad, very sad. SuperSteve
I loved Mike and Mike. Listened to it everyday to school my junior and senior years. Afternoon Thunder is awesome aswell. I have only caught The Tony Kornhieser (sp?) Show a handful of times, but I am glad I wont have to go through Mariotti. I like Dan Patricks show too. Speaking of going off, Jay Mariotti ripped Mike North a huge asshole this morning. He spent about 10 minutes biching about the april fools stunt The Score pulled yesterday. Jay started it off by questioning Norths journalistic integrity, and said North was a former hot dog salesmen who was "pulled from the streets." Mariotti claims this is a bad seed for the Chicago White Sox and journalism in Chicago. One comment I did think was hilarious is Mariottis wish that North "take a shower" and "get his ass off the radio. " The jag-bag segment on the Wise Guys should be awesome later today. Flash, my friend...there are MUCH better ways to kill brain cells than listening to North and Buffone! A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Missing34
Of course Mariotti is going to rip North, because North always b****es about Mariotti's column. Mariotti is a great write, but it's not hard to tell why people dislike him. North is a blow hard, but has many, many fans of his show. I was pissed about the April Fools thing too, but radio stations have been doing it for years. I would imagine the Score got good ratings for the rest of the day. Chisoxfn
Its all about the mighty 1090. Its basically the people from what was XTRA 690, but XTRA turned into a Fox Affiliate. I don't like listening to the national shows much.
YASNY
Mariotti and journalistic integrity should not be mentioned in the same sentence. The crap that North pulled yesterday wasn't cool, but this is a classic pot/kettle situation.
Goldmember
we have a local station with just the espn feed. i hate listening to national sports radio. for the most part, i can't pick up 1000 but 670 comes in crystal clear, so that's what i listen to. i don't think north and bufone are as bad as some here would lead you to believe and when they start drinking the cubbie kool-aid i just turn to my favorite rock station. IlliniBob72
North has too many contests on his show. There is no worse radio than listening to goof after goof try to guess which 5 NBA teams will cover the spread, or which three baseball players will total 10 hits on a night, etc. Half his show is filler like that. 1549
Here in New York City WFAN aka "The Fan" dominates sports talk radio. It is the flagship station for 'Imus in the Morning'. Imus is the only non-sports show on the fan. Mike and the Mad Dog are considered the industry's best in sports broadcast journalism, because of their professionalism. ESPN radio in NYC likes to pick on Mike and the Mad Dog saying they are just two middle aged guys that whine about problems in sports. That alone says why WFAN completely owns ESPN radio in the NYC ratings.
