Grand Jury Seeks Bonds Urine Samples -Report

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Urine samples taken from baseball star Barry Bonds and other players during the 2003 season still exist and are being sought by a grand jury investigating possible steroid distribution by a northern California laboratory, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on Saturday.

It had been believed that only the results of the tests were available but four sources have told the Chronicle that, in fact, the actual urine samples remained and could be used to test for THG, a designer steroid that has been banned by baseball.

Attorneys for Bonds, who plays for the San Francisco Giants, and for Major League Baseball were not immediately available to comment on the report.

Bonds and several other professional and Olympic athletes have already testified before the grand jury in a months-long probe of Balco, which is being investigated for allegedly providing steroids to top athletes.

Bonds has adamantly denied ever knowingly taking steroids.

However, if they test this urine and Bonds and players alike test positive, how will this hamper the sport in terms of the fans view, and how close would it put MLB to another work stoppage? And what would another work stoppage do to the game?

And his lawyer already is blaming the feds for singling Bonds out. Sounds like he knows what the test results will read.

He doesn't deny taking them, he denys 'knowingly' taking them. Barry Bonds may no longer be thought of as one of the top 3 players of all time...not that I ever considered his overrated ass one of them.

They are still available? Damn. A much as he shoots up I'm surprised the urine hasn't burned through the cup by now.
