BobDylan
When I saw Politte out to start the ninth, I was a little peeved. When I saw him walk the first batter, I told myself...you take him out now. He didn't, and he walked another man. I was all for seeing Marte, our horse, come in for Koch. I wasn't at all for seeing Politte struggle out there in the ninth. This would have been a much different inning had Koch or Marte started it.

Seeing as the score was 7-3 I don't see it as an error what so ever. Ozzie had to be thinking that even if Politte let a runner or two on base that his two horses would be able to finish em off. Of course they didn't but that's the way it goes sometimes! Great to have baseball back!
SuperSteve
I would have left Pollitte in too.
KipWellsFan
I would have left Pollitte in too. I may have gone with Jackson, Adkins, or Shingo there but I didn't think leaving Politte in there was stupid. And I definitely didn't think Politte was getting tired just lost confidence and had a mental block and just couldn't get it over any longer. Stocking
Cannot agree with you guys. We have heard all spring training that Koch is the closer. After he gives up a double, he gets the K. Then you pull him just cause the lefty lefty percentages?!?! Make up your mind Ozzie, if he is your closer let him close. Ozzie 0-1. Dunno who said it but mangers dont win you games, but they can lose them for you.
DonkeyKongerko
I agree, I think Politte should have been pulled after the first walk. Other than that I really have nothing to second guess. Not when your best reliever by far gives up 2 homeruns without recording an out.
Jordan4life_2007
I'm not gonna blame Ozzie one bit. He didn't do anything to cost us this game. It was just a major choke job by the bullpen. I'm a lil dissapointed, but they're are some positives that I liked. For one i'm just happy baseball is back. Secondly they're 161 gms to go, so lets not get too crazy over this 1 game. Third, the offense looked great, and u can already see that with Ozzie we'e gonna be very agressive this year. Then of course Mark pitched a hell of a game. So why this loss sucks. I think there r more positives than negatives...

Even with a 4 run lead, it's the first game of the season against the team you'll be fighting all year. With an off day tomorrow there is no reason Ozzie should have been toying with anyone that wasn't a horse. I don't disagree with leaving Politte in for the ninth, but I don't see his thinking in leaving him in after that first BB. Like it's been said, I can't complain about Marte blowing the lead. He's the best pitcher in the bullpen and he just flat out sucked.
Ishmookie
I WAS FINE BUT OZZIE SHOULD'VE PULLED HIM AFTER HE WALKED THE FIRST BATTER.

CWSOX45
I must have miss the press release, cause last i thought he was a setup guy. not a closer Well who else were we going to put in? I still don't feel comfortable with Koch closing out the game with two runners in scoring position. I would have never thought that Marte would have given up 2 bombs today..... I just hope we come back and kick their ass on wednesday. We did everything right today, except for that damn 9th inning. CWSOX45

Stocking
Well who else were we going to put in? Like ive said if Ozzie is naming Koch his closer let him f***ING close. You dont put any f***ING one in, because your said closer is on the mound.
striker
Politte is a short reliever. He did his job for 1 1/3 don't press your luck. And bringing Marte in for Koch was a total Jerry Manuel move. Yes there are 161 more games left but the good teams win the games they are suppose to. Like when you are up by 4 runs in the 9th and have to get out the bottom of the KC lineup. I bet we lose the division by 1 game. This one.
Stocking
enough negative Oz bashing. Truely I loved how he managed the game, pardon the 9th. Hit and runs, and how funny was that when Konerko took 2nd. Good game Ozzie, got the first one(Blunder) out of the way. I really am still excited for this team and this season. Ishmookie
The only funny thing that comes out of this is what Ozzie probably did after the game. I wouldn't want to be the janitorial staff in the visitor's clubhouse. I wouldn't be surprised if he took a bat and started smashing things untill Harold calmed him down. Ozzietheairedale
The ninth inning was a failure because the bullpen sucks, not because Ozzie made the wrong moves. Koch is done, Marte was a fluke last year, Takatsu can't get major leaguers out and apparently Politte can't pitch more than an inning. I agree about pulling Politte after 1 walk, but come on, 6 runs in the ninth? That's just a bad baseball team managed by a rookie manager. The Sox will not recover from this loss. Look out for being 5-6 games back after 2 weeks and out of it by May 1. The Royals will do what they did last year after this big win. God I hate it when we lose a game becasue of anything and then the bashing begins. Those who do that are not true sox fans IMO. I won't even go into Marte being a fluke cause that is one of the most dumbest remarks I've ever heard. Pollite can pitch more than an inning, Ozzie tried to pitch him 3 today but the last inning couldn't get it done. Here's some of these to the bashers to our players... :fyou :fyou :fyou :finger :dips*** and one more... :fyou

Jordan4life_2007
I don't see the big deal about pitchin Politte more than 1 inning. He was really good his 1st inning and a 3rd and Ozzie went with him in the 9th with a 4 run lead. I don't see anything wrong with that.
