SOX HAVE BEEN OVERATED SINCE 2000

I think all of us Sox fans, including the entire Sox org, have been overating this team since 2000. This team just has not stepped up to the plate since the first half of the 2000 season. Remember, the Sox got out to a great start, led the division at the break, and then played barely .500 ball the rest of the way. Then they got swept in the playoffs against Seattle. For the next three years, the Sox have been a dissapointment and has failed not only to get back to the playoffs, but just like today, they can't win the big game. They still have the same core of players(Thomas,Konerko,Ordonez,Valentin,Lee and a few others) but lets face it,the Twins series last year really makes me wonder did we really overate this team heart and talent. And now this team has a manager and a bench coach with no expierence and with a lot of questions mark. What do you guys think?

I just have to say, southsiderod is my favorite new poster. his posting style is unique, if not unreadable. his views are nothing but positive, and he contributes such new ideas. southsiderod you really should post more, cuz ithinkwe really need more of these posts. five posts, and all are classix. seriously though, youshould post more often with spaces and more than one paragraph. I think oyu could be an assett to this site if you stuck around for an actually discussion instead of starting a thread, ranting, and leaving. stick around talk awhile. we'll be much more receptive. i don't know if I've typed enough. heres some names(bartolo, flash, alomar, biddle, wells,Kip&David) Go White SOX!!!!!!

I don't know how OVERrated they have been. I think they were overrated in 2001 based on the high expectations from the previous season. The past two years, baseball "experts" have had little good to say about the White Sox and basically nailed their problems on the head.

Even Gammons I remember said something like the Sox have problems giving up really big innings and having very key errors that give their opponents extra outs. To me, that was exactly what the Sox have done the past three years.

Drill rod,

Opening Day 2000:

Texas Rangers 10, White Sox 4. I'm sure this win wasn't as brutal as today's but one loss does not spell disaster.

yes... to the D-rays

I watched that whole game, my roommate (huge BoSox fan) freaked out after the Crawford home run. I told him it was no big deal, all the good teams lose on Opening Day. A little harder to convince myself of that today.

No. They've had a dumbass manager since 2000(actually 1998).

Finally someone took the blindfold off and realized that Jerry Manuel was a douchebag.

We now have a manager who is atleast halfway decent.
