I agree completely in that openly anyone attacking abortion or gay marriage and saying "Jesus would be totally into this" is misrepresenting that they know the will of Jesus. I kind of think he'd like an action figure though. Or a line of fine 'miracle wines'... there's an unexplored marketing goldmine...

Soxy
Now I am being deadly serious: I have actually seen kids at my school wearing these shirts and trucker hats. The first time I was like, what the holy goodness is this? But then I realized what it was. I have no clue, one boy is fairly religious, the rest, well I didn't even want to ask. Why would you wear this? I just don't know. Ack.
sox4lifeinPA
my thoughts: That whole death on a cross thing might be worth a little more than being called a "home boy". I just don't want to get to heaven one day and Jesus is like...so...homeboy, huh...that's all I was to you?
Cali
Another in the Jesus line of T-shirts from T-shirtHell.com http://www.tshirthell.com/shirts/tshirt.php?sku=a127
BrandoFan
That whole death on a cross thing might be worth a little more than being called a "home boy". Many, many people died on the cross, impaled on spikes, quartered, cooked in oil for days or else just rotted in prison over the millenii. Quite a few did so for a worthy cause or two......Jesus being Jesus, symbolizing the very best qualities a human can have, however, does warrant some additional respect, I do agree The problem is, many people don't believe in him or/and don't give a s*** about a number of "worthy" things, Jesus included. So they might as well call him/wear whatever they want in a pathetic attempt to be Cool and Relevant. f*** em. They fear indifference as vampires fear garlic, mirrors and those with AIDS. Soxy
That whole death on a cross thing might be worth a little more than being called a "home boy". I agree with your statement, but I also agree with Brando... The main problem I had with the Passion (and yes, I realize it was a film about, The Passion) was that it divorced the overarching message of love, inclusion and radical challenging of authority that defined the ministry of Jesus. I think that it is those reasons that Jesus should have respect--like Brando said, thousands of Jews and others (I think others, but mostly Jews) were crucified--heck, Pilate himself crucified thousands. After one insurrection they crucified 2,000. The crucifixion itself does not set Jesus apart, but the reasons why he was crucified: mainly that he challenged the oppressive nature of society, fought for inclusion of all (enemies, sinners, the ritually unclean) and he preached love in a time of hateful occupation of the Holy Land. Um, that's all.
