On the most part it was just a bunch of people sniveling behind peoples backs trying to soley help themselves. While that is what business is like, I don't think thats the best way people do business. Give me a team of people that are unified and want to work together and that will result in a sucessful company (well sales or marketing tema) over 5 people that will continue to crawl, scratch and cheat their way to being better then the other (Although the competition would be good). I just don't like Trumps comments toward business and I don't think of business in the way the Don does. And I have to admit, I love seeing his casinos going bankrupt cause its finally starting to show Trump for the phony he is. Give me the money he inherited, and I could easily be as sucessful, if not more sucessful and I'd be 100 times less the prick then he is. And of course The Donald is a phony -- one look at that man's super-ugly/tacky guilded and encrusted apartment in the 1st ep should have tipped one off to his creepy souless-ness. But the way he subtly pits those MBA/Harvard types and exposes them for the incompetent, spotlight-vampiring drama queens they really are...to say nothing of his minions and the editing.....It's hilarious. What about the contestants themselves...perhaps it's the way it's edited, but I swear for all their impressive credentials, they have the business acumen of Mike Tyson. What was even more interesting is the way women were consistently kicking men's ass until Trump started pitting them against each other. So much for the stereotype. If I have to hear the pathetic "leaders are born....it's in your genes....and, Mr. Trump, by golly, I have them in spades" spiel one more time....Talk about delusions of grandeur, wow. LMAO/. I saw the episode of the Newlywed's when Jessica and Nick went to AC and it was a mess.. I wonder if they'll show all the details. Holding out hope for Kwame -- the way this show is edited, you never know the truth -- context shots and the time frame often do not match, and the drama/story arcs are probably created out of nothing. Right now, the producers clearly wish to present's Kwame's project as a disaster -- coupled with the fact that he's basically been in the shadows for the entire series, conventional wisdom says Loyola Wiz has it in the bag. Which is why I think underdog Kwame will win. And Assorama....do people like that even exist? Even contrasted with the rest of the girlie lot on that show, she comes off as this grotesque, a strangle alloy of arrogance, ambuition, ignorance, cheekbones and drama, lol. Or he could wind up pushing chicken. If the Orland Park native doesn't hear the words "You're hired" on Thursday, Kentucky Fried Chicken is offering the runner-up a one-week, $25,000 job to market the Colonel's famous recipe. Whatever the outcome, the Southland will be tuned in to the two-hour live finale of "The Apprentice." A cross between "Survivor" and "American Idol," Trump's reality-show version of the cut-throat business world has become all the rage. At dead center is Rancic, a Sandburg High School graduate and self-made millionaire called a "regular guy" by friends. Those who know him are happy to be along for the ride. A half-dozen family members and friends will get front-row seats at the Saturday Night Live studio in New York for the big announcement. "I know Billy wants to win," said his mom, Gail Rancic. "I wouldn't be at all surprised if he did. This is really what he's all about." Rancic's competition is 29-year-old Kwame Jackson, a New Yorker with a Harvard MBA and a pleasant demeanor. Rancic, 32, won the support of Trump and fans by keeping cool under pressure and avoiding nasty bickering with other contestants. "He's likable and he doesn't spew a lot of (baloney) like some of the others," devoted viewer Christina Rys said. "He calls it like he sees it and he has good instincts." Of course, Rys, 26, and her friend Angela Villalovos of Orland Park admit it's nice to root for the hometown hero. "Midwest people, especially those from the southwest 'burbs (of Chicago), tend to be easygoing," Villalovos said. "We can handle stress better, solve problems better and deal with the attitudes from the East and West coasts." Rancic was a year old when he moved to Orland Park with his parents, Gail and Ed, and his three older sisters. He attended St. Michael's Catholic Elementary School, then Marist High School for two years before graduating from Sandburg High School in 1989. An entrepreneurial streak appeared while he was a student at Loyola University Chicago. "He put fliers on the boats docked at the marinas downtown and offered to wash them so he could pay for school," Gail Rancic said. He started his second business, an online cigar store, at age 24. He made a killing when he sold it, which led the show's producers to seek him out, his mom said. While he was taping "The Apprentice," Rancic told his friends he was out of the country on business. When he returned, he went back to work as a real-estate developer and hasn't spoken about the show to anyone. "Not one word," said his friend Cathy Nakos of Orland Park. "He won't say anything, so I don't even ask." Nakos was at a viewing party Thursday with Rancic and his loved ones when it was announced he made it to the final two. "Everyone screamed. We all high-fived. We had a champagne toast. Everyone was so happy, and he just smiled," she said. The reality television experience has reunited the Rancics with distant relatives and long-lost friends. It also has led to interruptions on vacations. "We were recently in Colorado on a ski trip and people wanted Billy's picture and autograph," Gail Rancic said. "It was a riot. I keep thinking, 'What must Brad Pitt go through?' "At least Billy knows this is just a temporary thing," she said. "The limelight hasn't changed him from being sweet Billy. He has the right values and the right spirit for life, and that's what's really going to make him a winner." Experts are split on who will walk away with a $250,000 job working for Trump. Robert Thompson, president of the Popular Culture Association and author of the book "From Hill Street Blues to E.R.: Television's Second Golden Age," said he picked Jackson to win from day one. "If I could have hired any of these people, he's the only one who seemed smart enough but not difficult to deal with," he said. Robert Tuchman said he would hire Rancic as his No. 3 or 4 man. A "real-life apprentice," Tuchman founded TSE Sports and Entertainment in New York City at age 24 and now coordinates events for celebrities like the concert and golf tournament featured on Thursday's episode. "I think it's the first reality show that's real life," he said. "You can see yourself playing the game." Thompson said audiences are hooked because the show is like the workplace with the backstabbing and manipulating. And "The Apprentice" has the "cheese factor" required of all reality shows, such as the rose on "The Bachelor" and the torches on "Survivor." Trump brings that element to the boardroom. "Trump is the perfect, cheesy, dorky, uber-boss," Thompson said. "But he takes himself very seriously." Pat Munro, 57, is fascinated by Trump, but somewhat baffled by her obsession with "The Apprentice." "I can't answer why the show is such a success," the Oak Lawn office manager said. Bill was instructed to hire someone to run his company... While Kwame doesn't have a company to hire anyone to run.. I can't imagine Bill being told to do something like that if the odds aren't in his favor.. He could be in for a lawsuit if he hires someone only to fire them.
