Game Threads for April 14th

Kanny fell 5-4 to Delmarva. Valido had a good game, 2-3 with a BB and a stolen base. Rodriguez gave up 3 runs in the 1st inning and the Intimidators came back and made things close. Young had a solid game as well.

The 2nd game was rained out. The two games will be made up later in the season.

Knights win 3-0. Box Score

Felix Diaz has looked very, very impressive so far this season. Yet to giv up a run in his 2 outings I think. Bryant Nelson's gettin a lot of playin time early at DH and 2B. A lot of guys need to get goin with the bat though, only Nelson, Reed and Borchard are hittin ova .250, although if they keep pitchin the way they hav, it won't matter much.

Their pitching is very sound. They have veteran experience and some solid young arms. The problem is I think they have a bunch of AAAA pitchers. The lineup more or less sucks.

Yeah they don't hav a Brandon Claussen type in there. The lineup doesn't look too good at the moment, but if any1 hits extremely well at Birmingham, they can be called up.

Our Birmingham lineup isn't impressing me much more. There are some guys at Bham, but I don't see any of them dominating enough to get called up. The thing is after we traded away quite a few prospects for Everett and Alomar among others our higher minor leagues are thin. We had a good draft last year and those guys are now in A ball so our A ball teams are pretty loaded with talent. W-S could use some pitching, but the point is that Kanny is stacked and so is W-S for the most part. If we stop trading away prospects (not saying it's a bad thing) we will have more talent in the minors, but that isn't always worth it.

Birmingham's everyday lineup is made up of veterans. Aside from fringe prospects like Morse, Spidale and Yan, there are no real prospects. A guy like Aaron McNeal could surprise, but I doubt he will be more than just AA/AAA filler.

The pitching is the strength at Birmingham, but there are still many veterans. Honel and Munoz are the only real prospects right now (with Wing still in AZ). Guys like Meaux, Bajenaru, Bullard and Phillips are guys that could contribute at the Major League level with a break or two, but they aren't highly regarded prospects.
