SoxFanForever
Some numbers that compute!! Mags Salary 2004 Chicago White Sox $ 14,000,000 Outfielder 2003 Chicago White Sox $ 9,000,000 Outfielder 2002 Chicago White Sox $ 6,500,000 Outfielder 2001 Chicago White Sox $ 3,750,000 Outfielder Right now there are 16 players making more than Maggs... I think Maggs is worthy of top 10 top 15 player money....and here's why Going by JUGGERNAUT's RPG stats(I never knew about these...thanks) Which players have been ranked in the top 11 3 years in a row?? Here's who: Manny Ramirez $22,500,000 Alex Rodriguez $22,000,000 Carlos Delgado $19,700,000 Magglio Ordenez $14,000,000 Jason Giambi $12,428,571 Maggs is right in with that group and currently his only company to be in there this year as well, is Giambi and Ramirez. All this and he isn't a roid freak. He isn't a trouble maker in the locker room and he is coming in to his prime. Sing him NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again for showing me those stats....Consisitency is a big factor when it comes to a long term contract... They also got huge contracts when teams were still passing them out. Times have changed a bit. Do you think teams are going to pay $20 mil for a 1b with bad knees anymore? I.E. Delgado. Maggs deservse a fair shake but these guys are all in the old contract bracket in my book. I really don't see people getting $20 mil a year contracts in the near future. I agree regarding the 20+ contracts, but my point was consistency....Maggs has been there 3 years in a row and the only other peeps that have done that are gettin the big bucks...I'm not saying break the bank...but he is well within reason to get 14 or 15 per. He also has all the upside in the world.
Steff
Were we really discussing Maggs desired salary.. or the fact that Frank gets ripped a new rear for making a comment.. and Maggs doesn't for doing the same thing.. ??

Hey steff I'm just rolling with the punches.... When Juggenaut brought up all the maggs stuff...I did some researching myself....so topics kinda switched I can't compare Mags and Frank at all cause I don't think it is the same thing. Mags is in contract year....Frank is signed. I just don't think it is right to complain about a contract or hold out, on something you have signed. I hate when they do it in all sports. YOU signed the contract...how can you now say your not happy?? It just seems only in sports does that kind of stuff fly.

Afterall, the dude has a homely, moon-shaped non-threatening smiley face, he is good for the organization, doesn't talk s***....*snore*

Firstly, b****ing helps. It shows one cares about the team and is not afraid of expressing raw emotions. Secondly, what can be done? How about letting the Dodgers, Mets or the Yankees pay Magglio to their hearts' content?
Rex Hudler
Steff, I disagree with you in principle here. I see a big difference between his situation now and Maggs. Frank needs to shut up with the contract talk. Frank's problem is that he equates money with respect. There is some degree of validity with that, but when he says like that it makes him sound like he is whining. If Frank would just shut up, play and produce, he will get what he deserves, whether with the Sox or somewhere else. But there is no way I would give him a 4 year deal right now, nor would I renegotiate his current deal. Respect can be shown in many ways and it is not all about money. Rex.. it's not about the money. The money is moot. It's about two players taking their s*** to the media.. and only one getting grief for it. I aggre with you on everything else. Old Socks
Frank will definitely end his career with the Sox, because no other team will take him.

greg775
Frank said: "I've already discussed it with Arn and the club," Thomas said. "They both know how I feel. I've earned my way here, they're not giving me nothing. After the year I had last year, it's a little disappointing come the 1st and 15th this year (pay day), but I'm going to keep on ticking. It's not a challenge to me, because I'm used to proving myself." I don't think Frank was whining. If you read his statement it's not that bad, not in this day and age of greed. He said it's a little disappointing. I don't think that's too radical a statement. I love Frank (but not as much as Old Roman did)

YASNY
No way. It's all good. I enjoy a spirited debate as much as the next poster and if I overdo the Skirt hating I apologise but there's nothing I hate more than a guy who gets paid millions of dollars a year to play a game crying to the media about money I think I deserve Vlad money. I can see myself wearing Yankee pinstripes. It's about the years I want. This is my last chance for a big contract. If they don't, I guess I'll have to become a free agent. Damn NUKE, you must really despise the guy who said all of the above, based on that quote. The Yankee pinstripes remark amazes me. Remember all the flack about Buehrle and his remarks about the Cardinals? Yet, this Yankee statement is much more flagrant than anything MB ever said. DBAHO
Why do ppl even think the Yankees will be interested in Maggs next year? They already hav Sheff to play RF, he's contracted for another 2 years, and Hideki Matsui in LF, and he's contracted for another few years. If anythin, they'll be goin afta Carlos Beltran instead to leadoff and play CF for the next 10 years. Maggs would mayb hav to DH and rotate in the outfield if he played for the Pin Stripes but don't forget they hav Bernie Williams as well.
