Chisoxfn
Gonzalez had a nice game. Haigwood a rough one, but I'm just glad he's pitching again. Rauch was rolling with 4 shutout innings and then hit his funk in the 5th and 6th. Borchard is struggling.
Cali
Why do they keep switching Gonzalez and Valido around? At this point is Valido the better prospect and better all around SS than Gonzalez?
Chisoxfn
He is, but I think they want to let Gonzalez still get shortstop time in because defensively he's pretty damn good. He has an amazing arm and solid range. Valido is good and projects to be pretty good (He makes his fair share of errors now though) but I just think they want to get both of them playing time their. Personally I want to see more Antoin Gray and Valido.

DBAHO
Just getting worried??? He is toast, he will never be even an average big leaguer, swing is way too long and not quick either. So in ur opinion we should ship him out while his value as a prospect is not toast?

Guest JimH
MN, personally, I will wait until the end of June to make a final judgement, not that my judgement matters . I'm disappointed he's still striking out one every three times to the plate, even though the season is early. Third go-around at AAA, can't seem to figure out how to shorten up that swing, equals bad sign. I do believe the organization will give this guy every chance to succeed, even if his value diminishes to nothing.

Guest JimH
We'll know alot more about Chris Young after this year. He is supposedly quite the athlete and fast, fast, fast. I did not see him at all in spring, even though I made a special effort to try and get over to the back fields and see him play. There is a reason why Phil Rogers (BA) had him so high on the prospect list, that means Sox brass is very high on this young man. A big plus is he's a true CF. On Borchard, I'm thinking it's a mental issue more than physical. Seems like he's not able to recognize pitches, or not understand what a pitcher may be throwing on certain counts. I'm a huge advocate of on base percentage and am losing my patience with guys who are constantly striking out. I guess on Joe B. all we can do is hope. MnSoxFan
I agree, Young learned last year to be more patient at the plate, when he figures it out he will arrive fast with the raw talent he has. Agree with OBP, that is what I look for almost more than anything, that and BB vs K ratio. Borchard has gotten worse each year, at first he was walking a decent amount, but he has regressed, thus my opinion of him has regressed. Speaking of BB/K ratio, last I checked Anderson was 12 Ks in 22 ABs, ouch!!! I know his wrist may still be bothering him, and he seemed to be ok in ST, but man, maybe he needs to change spots with Brice. Nanita is not hitting, but he is getting on base, he was 0-2 with 3 walks yesterday, I can live with that.
Chisoxfn
Too me Young is as gifted speed wise as Anthony Webster. The difference between Young and Webster is that Young has some pretty damn good power potential as well, imo. I think with Anderson, Sweeney and all the other young outfielders the Sox just have to be patient. Some heavy expectations have been put on a lot of them and they are facing much tougher competition. As far as I'm concerned, I don't mind seeing them struggle early. I'd like to see them face a little challenge, adjust and start raking once again. Oh ya and Reed is just awesome
