Chisoxfn
FWIW, regarding shipping Kelly out of here... I'd also take Mark Bellhorn...he's not great, but he can play every IF position quite well and has a little power from the LH side of the plate, along with some patience at the plate as well. I just don't see the value in that deal, not unless the Sox get a raw arm in return. Bellhorn did jack last year and really had one year ever where he did squat at the major league level. I don't mind him, but Wunshc is one of the best left handed specialist in all of baseball. He held lefties to a .200 or less average if I recall last season. I dont' want to give him up for nothing. In fact, I'd rather keep him, move Cotts to the rotation (I think Scho is going to be solid) and then have Wright in the pen with Wunsch as your 2nd lefty. YASNY
I could see the Sox bringing up Kelly and sending down Cotts. This would accomplish two things. First, it would keep the balance we have in the bullpen, as Cotts and Wunsch are both lefties. Also, they could start stretching out Cotts with the idea of him replacing Wright in the rotation, if Danny doesn't step it up soon. As for trading Wunsch for Bellhorn ... No thanks. Effective lefty relievers are like gold. There are usually a half a dozen or more teams in need of one at any one time. They should be able to get more for Wunsch than a career bench jockey who has already had his "career year".
southsider2k5
He wont be there tomarrow, they said he'll be off the DL this week, which may not be till friday, plus he will need to rehab. If he does come back as a sock he wont come back till may Wunsch IS rehabbing at Charlotte right now.
Texsox
Zero is only going one of two places, the 25 man or back home. And we all know how much JR loves to pay guys to stay home. Koch is running out of lives. There is no such thing as a clean slate. There wasn't when he came off a 44 save season and there isn't when you come off a 14 save season. He has to *prove* last year wasn't what we should expect. No need to send him down. He has to get major league hitters out. If he can't, he has no positive value. He's sucking up air. No apparent holes to fill early in this season. Uribe, Harris, and A-Row are playing well enough that we probably do not need an upgrade. So a trade probably isn;t going to happen or need to happen. So which of our promising young arms is going to be traded / sent down? I believe you send the person you feel can have the biggest impact for this season down now and keep him ready and sharp. In my mind that would be Cotts.
KevHead0881
Koch ain't going to be sent down so, we're stuck with him. The only scenario I can see that makes sense is sending Wright down (he has been given every chance and has failed) and move Cotts to the 5th spot. I'm not sure it helps Cotts to be pitching an inning here and there, once a week. If he's going to be a future top starter in our rotation, then we might as well train him to be. He can't do any worse than Danny and I really like the idea of having a third lefty in the rotation. And I don't think Koch has looked all that bad. Yes, that outing against KC was aweful, but otherwise, he's looked alright. If you think about it, he got tagged by Sweeney and Beltran in that inning, who just so happened to be killing all of our pitchers. I'm not a Koch apologist, but I do think it's still too early to jump ship with him.
quade36
First, it's Takatsu. And second, I don't see Kenny wanting to send down the one million dollar man down to AAA so fast. Why not they have Vic Darensbourg in the minors making 1.4 mil.
