Well, this certainly is a bit of a problem. Hopefully he recovers quickly and whoever we call up to replace him does an adequate job, although they will most likely be a backup for Willie and Uribe. I am with Brando though, all those early injuries we discussed, you never want to wish those on people.....bad karma :banghead

We will miss his bat, his D  :puke

Rafacosta, Old Buddy, please don't discredit the defensive abilities of Jose Valentin. He may have screwed up on a few, but you know what the ESPN highlights of NY-Bos showed Alex Rodriguez throwing it away too. It happens. Jose is a very good SS , who makes the hard plays and sometimes thinks too much on the easy ones. I think Uribe can step in for awhile, but it limits the Sox ability to manuever. I am sure an infielder will be called up if Jose goes on the DL. I hope it's only a few days of rest for him and the Big Hurt and we avoid the issue all together.

Uribe has 4 less hits in 23 less ab.

Willie has a better average and OBP than Valentin.

What we will miss his is power, and veteran leadership.

But Uribe and Harris so far have done as good of a job as Valentin, so while his injury sucks, its atleast a position we had a player who was working hard to deserve playing time.

Yes, they have done as well, but Valentin hasn't even gotten going against RHP yet and last year he hit them hard.

Let's see how they handle everyday duty.

Trust me, it's a bigger blow than you think. Unless Crede and Rowand go out of their mind this series, Sox will be lucky to win a game without Frank and Jose.

I hope I am wrong, though.

Without Frank and Valentin is different than without Valentin.

I will agree that if both are out the full series our offense may sputter, especially if Gload doesnt produce.

Im just saying losing Valentin alone, right now seems replacable for the moment.

Not that over the long haul of the season Uribe may cool down, but just at this moment hes looking good.
