CSF
Just heard on the Score that Valentin was placed on the DL retroactive to 4/20. Kelly Dransfeldt was called up yesterday and will be with the club today.

Texsox
As insurance. I assume we'll see Uribe and Harris up the middle. I wonder if Oz automatically gives players back their starting spot after being on the DL?
Guest JimH
And the Kelly Dransfeldt era begins, for 15 days anyway. He can spell Crede at 3B too. I'm anxious to see him get some playing time, I hear he's a hard nosed scrappy type.

I just hope his hitting doesn't get rusty facing Koch in practice
ChiSox_Sonix
this guy's never hit at any level, but he was probably called up over Burke cuz he can play more infield positions. We also have Bobby Smith in Charlotte, he spent several years in Tampa until recently

I wonder if Oz automatically gives players back their starting spot after being on the DL? YES! Yes, he will. Jose is the SS and Uribe is best suited as the all purpose in-field reserve player. We should all be happy we have Jose Valentin on the team.
Steff
He's batting .235 in AAA

KipWellsFan
Does anyone think that Bryant Nelson should have been considered for the call-up? Or does he only play second base?
bulokis
I think we will be ok without Valentin. Uribe has been good so far so he deserves some playing time.
cwsox
No surprise there. I miss the Magical Mystery Tour already no surprise because you called it earlier today, yes? I hope Jose has a good recovery knowing how that aggravated him before I can't call him StJosE6 until he comes back... So sending good healing thoughts Jose's way... cwsox
Does anyone think that Bryant Nelson should have been considered for the call-up? SoxFanForever
this is not a hsotile question but one for me to learn: why would we call him up? He has the second highest average on the team in Charlotte next to Jeremy Reed and is an infielder
cwsox
He has the second highest average on the team in Charlotte next to Jeremy Reed and is an infielder thank you sounds like good reasons to me! I don't follow the minors that closely so I didn't know that thanks again

I like the Fool on the Hill better, he reminds of some people I know. And really to me, I thought it was pretty obvious Dransfeldt was the only choice for a call up. danman31
Does anyone think that Bryant Nelson should have been considered for the call-up? Or does he only play second base? I'm thinking Dransfeldt can play more positions and he hit well at ST. He bat .419. I saw him in 4 at bats and 3 of them he got hits. He has a nice line drive swing, but didn't show much power. The next Mike Caruso?

YASNY
Dransfeldt has never been much of a hitter. I don't expect much from him while he's here. I just hope Jose heals 100% and is not on the DL too long.
