BridgeportHeather
Joe Crede seems to be the most inconsistent player on this team. He'll have a few games where he can get a couple hits together. But, then he'll have several where he just isn't seeing pitches. Crede needs to get into the batting cages and get some major work done, or he'll end up just like Rowand was in the first part of last year (Rowand was hitting near the Heather Line--Baggio's term for someone hitting around .125--during the first portion of last year before being sent down to the minors), or he'll never be able to get above the Mendoza Line. I hope this won't be a reocurring theme this season, because we need for Crede to be soxessful here!

When he was lhanging frozen ropes all over the place of guys like Derek Lowe back in 2002, it didn't have the loop.

He swings a bat like Piazza, but with less bat speed. s*** choke up when you ahve two strikes. mark Grace made a career of it.

Jordan4life_2007
I hope Joe is ok. He did this last year. Had a very poor first half, then came alive in the second half.
greg775
I like Joe, but at this rate he won't make a lot of dough (playing the game). His defense has still been stellar, right? I don't get to see many games here and was wondering. I still believe in Joe Crede.
YASNY
When it's all said and done, Crede will have good numbers and will contribute significantly to the Sox.
mreye
Joe just seems so damned lethargic. It's like he's sleep-walking on the field. It was nice to see a little fire out of him after he was called out on strikes last night. Very bad call, I might add.
Reddy
yeah i agree he looks tired. And i'm a little worried about a player that's thiiiis streaky. Joe really looked good in 02 and last year he was decent... i was expecting a breakout year and i'm still hoping for it, but i'm a lot less optimistic now. SoxAce
Joe to me is going to be the like Konerko. He'll hit good in the first/second half, then he'll tail off. He did it last year and he might do it this year as well. My guess, he'll be hot after the all-star break whereas Konerko probably will tail off after the all-star break. Wong & Owens
You know, it seemed like the Sox did everything they could to hold Crede back for as long as humanly possible, even when they really had no other alternative at 3rd, on teams that they had to know weren't seriously going to contend. Maybe they saw something in Crede that made them think he didn't quite have it ?
BrandoFan
Maybe they saw something in Crede that made them think he didn't quite have it He teased a lot of people in the last 2 months of 2002. I mean, he was hitting GOOD pitching, not just mistakes. Plate coverage, early power to opposite field (just ask Jim Edmonds how he was doing before he developed it) -- Joe had it all. Yes, his pitch selection was crappy, but he made up for it by excellent hand-eye coordination and supreme confidence in himself. Now he's just looking lost and his swing is too long. Joe Borchard land -- and Crede doesn't have Joe's raw power, so balls Borchard will mis*** for homers are mere flyouts for Crede. He better get it together, quick. YASNY
A bust? The dude has had a slow start. A guy having a bad couple of weeks happens all the time, it's just more noticable in the beginning of the year as his stats are flash on the TV every time he comes to bat. Crede is not a bust. No way. Maybe tonight was the beginning of him breaking out of it.
DBAHO
Joe Crede came thru big time tonite. We all know he's a slow starter, but he'll get his stuff together and come thru. Good to see in tonite's win, that Gload and Crede got the runs on the board, we can't win every game with Maggs and Carlos etc. hittin a homer every nite. Some of the lesser known players hav to step up too.

But this is off of Mike Mussina, who's fastball right now is at about 88 MPH on a good day.
