Retired Numbers

CSF

Recommended Posts

The following are all retired:

2-Fox

3-Baines

4-Appling

9-Minoso

11-Aparicio

16-Lyons

19-Pierce

42-Jackie Robinson (retired by MLB)

72-Fisk

Who else do you think will ultimately get consideration to have their jersey retired. Here's who I'm thinking at the current moment:

#35-Frank Thomas

#13-Ozzie Guillen (a World Series championship would make this a non-issue)

#23-Robin Ventura (longshot, but I still think he might merit consideration)

Others???

Big Hurt and if Maggs signs a long term deal and stays here a lot longer, Maggs.

Thats it. If Ozzie ends up being a damn good manager for us for a while, then I'd say he's worthy as well.

I was thinking about Mags, but if he leaves via FA, I don't think they'll give it a 2nd thought.

did the sox have numbers back in shoeless's days, if not i say we retire 00

I was gonna say Shoeless Joe too. Possibly the greatest hitter in Sox history. Don't know if they could retire something for him though since he is banned and what not?

He should definitely be on that wall in left center though.

with the cash in his hand that he took?

No to Joe.

Remember his answer to say it ain't so, Joe; he responded, it is.

Joe is honored greatly in the panels that the Sox have on the club level which beautifully illustrate white sox history - I wish those panels were where everyone might see them - that is sufficient honor for Joe's contributions. But no way place Joe amongst those we honor with the highest honors. Bibb Falk, Fielder Jones, Ray Schalk, deserve that honor far far more.

Wilbur Wood

WILBUR WOOD

I’m like

throwin’ f***in’ junk

scraping the sides of the plate

fluttering across broken winged

accumulating insults

& lounging in stale air

I’m the junkballer

& from a few feet away

I look easy to hit

but, friend, understand

that my s*** explodes

BOOM!

& it sure as hell ain’t where you thought it’d be

when you started that swing

& yr fury fans the air impotent

while my junk falls behind you, immaculate

I could be talked in Shoeless Joe. His WS stats were solid. He took the money and then played his best. You have to respect a guy from Chicago for that.
