Please spare me Harris and Uribe batting 1-2

in our order.

I fear these two guys at the top are going to kill

the positivity we had in opening 8-4.

They are not quality big leaguers.

They are KW's boys and should not be batting

1-2 in our order!!

I have a comment. Your a dumbass! But seriously, what do you have against Willie and Juanny??? All Willie has done is get on base, hit to the opposite field, and be consistent defensively.

I am still not completly onboard the USS Willie Harris. I just dont see it in him playing everyday, I dont know.

Uribe has been pretty good, but Harris has been inconsistent. The series in NY he looked great 2 of the games, but lately he has been back to his old self. AAAA player or player finding his way in the bigs? I can't wait to get Jeremy Reed at the 2 slot. :headbang

His .233 average or whatever the f*** it is is just awesome at the top of our lineup.

Hey, I got an idea...let's trade for Jose Vidro right now. Will that not end all of our worries in one fell swoop? Kills two birds with one stone? Am I right, or am I right?

So far this season -- There has been a very direct correlation between willies ability to get on base, and The outcome of the game --

Willie just needs to get on base anyway possible --

Has he had a bunt hit yet, it just sad if he hasn't, and we watched the bronx bombers drop down two in the first inning of the last 2 games.

How do you plan to get Vidro?

Jon Rauch, Felix Diaz, Willie Harris, all sorts of neat s*** like that.

I wouldn't trade for him now with Montral still "in" the race, but come mid-to-late June when they are easily out of it, look to make a Carl Everett/Robbie Alomar type deal with Montreal.

They can be robbed, and KW has done it before...I mean, Bartolo Colon, coming off a 20-win season with an ERA of under 3.00 for essentially Rocky Biddle(who had been mediocre with us), Jeff Liefer(who has since gone from Montreal to Tampa Bay to I believe Milwaukee), Antonio Osuna(who was mediocre for the Yanks), and Delvys Lantingua(and I have no f***ing clue what he has done for Columbus or wherever the hell he is nowadays). Given, they had to unload him, but if you can sugarcoat a deal well enough, you could get him. Give them Harris, Rauch, and Wright...personally, I could see them biting. They might not make it right now, but wait 2-2 1/2 months, and I think that trade will become a lot more attractive, when all New York is willing to do is give straight cash for him(what else do they have to give Montreal?).

But I suppose if we have to, I'll take Junior Spivey too.

Don't give KW so much credit for that one -- Brian cashman, George stienbrener, and the evil empire pushed that deal through to block him from going to Boston.

Well I hope he was taking notes real well on how to rip off Montreal, cuz I think he needs to do it a few times this year.

Young players need time. I hate to synthesize your thoughts into a simple statement, but you can't say after a couple of weeks as regulars these guys are "busts."

Personally, I'm not high on harris either because of what I've seen of him in person, but the kid is hustling. That hustle play into 2nd tonight to keep the inning alive is the type of stuff we need. However, for willie to be effective he needs to keep the ball on the ground. He needs to take advantage of his speed and force the defense to get him out. Popping up to short right doesn't do that. However, he possesses above average range and athleticism at 2nd and his speed has to be top 5 in the AL. You can't write a guy off this quick that possesses talent like that.

As for Uribe, even though he's taken my favorite White Sox player of all-time's number (Ray Durham), I think he'll surprise a lot of people if he gets the chance. Believe it or not this guy is only 24, but was rushed to the majors so he's seen a lot of major league pitching. To give up on this guy at only 24 and only two weeks into the season would be a mistake. He hits the ball with authority, and if he develops any semblance of an eye at the plate- Watch Out. If he can't cut the strikeouts down then I'll agree that he's not an everyday player. However I think the strikeouts may be a product of his violent swing. I can't remember someone with such a violent swing that had prolonged success, the only name that comes to mind is Jeromy Burnitz, and he had maybe a good 2 years. Walker would be coach of the year in my mind if he could find a way to harness Juan's swing.

The key here is youth. As I stated somewhere earlier today, youth may be my achilles' heel when it comes to assessing potential and players but you can't deny it. Especially not even a month into the season.

Maybe this isn't a good example, but look at Jon Garland. The kid has been in the league since he was 20 and has struggled mightly, but have we given up on him? No. And judging by his first three starts it looks like he'll have a solid year if he keeps his head on straight.

Only the special players make impact immediately. Arod, Pujols, etc. So yes it may stink that we have to watch players grow in front of us, but it's pretty much the only choice we have because our team cannot buy players that produce at every position.

I do agree that seeing them at 1-2 is no good. The lineup could use a shake up so we don't have two hit or miss guys setting the table for our RBI men. Maybe Rowand/Lee/Olivo could get tryouts in the 2 hole?

And about Reed, He's going to be one hell of a two hole hitter...next year. This kid has never played past AA, so he's probably better off getting a solid year of AAA under his belt. I would feel much better if this were the action taken with Reed because we don't desperately need to rush him right now.

Alright that's my two cents, I really need to stop being so wordy. :P

Lee already had his tryout, and he absolutely thrived in front of Frank. Manuel's best move ever, perhaps.

Leave BabyBerroa out of this. He's hit vert well, just missed some extra base hits today when he made outs and despite 3 errors fielded his position well. He has some speed as well. Should be in the 2nd spot against LHP, no question about it.

Willie should be gone, but Sox can't replace him because Manos is on DL. Kelly Dransfelt should be starting tomorrow, but he is not the answer either.

KW....call Oriole GM, swallow your damn pride.

He's making, what, 9-10 Mill this season?

Thanks, but no thanks -- this money should be saved up so we can get a STUD at the ASB. I can't see the Expos picking up his salary.

Right now Roberts still sounds like a good, cheap option.

I am so sick of Harris leading off. If he has to play, can't we put him to the back of the lineup? Move Olivo up or something, but please don't let this guy lead off anymore.

C. Lee is only hitting .264 we should trade him too.

Its been less than 20 games, thats less than 1/8 of the entire season.

Uribe and Harris may not be studs, but they are good enough for now.

You cant just trade for everyone under the sun, and it takes quality to get quality.

I can remember how bad people were complaining about Everret and Alomar, how we gave up such great prospects.

Bah

Its just some fans can never be happy, some days I wish that we had a fan base like the Yankees or Red Sox, who just believed and some times irrationaly that our players were the best.

3 of our losses have come to the Yankees for god sakes.

In what f***ing universe do you live in where a $60million should beat a $180million team.

If we win today, we split our season series with the BEST team.

Sorry but to me, thats damn fine, all we gotta do is hold our own against the weaker teams and we easily make the playoffs.

Get off of this board, you damn optimist!!

I'd have loved for the offense to pick garland up yesterday, but those are the breaks. Uribe has exceeded a lot of expectation offensively so far, and has done what was expected of him defensively. Willie's motivation seems to come and go a little, but it's way too early to get down on him. His speed is important, as evidenced by his beating out the fielder's choice play at second yesterday - anyone else on the team would have been out. Keep him at lead off until it's clearly demonstrated he doesn't deserve it.

FlasoxxJim,

Willie not getting thrown out at 2nd could of been the turning point of that game.

If Maggs does any damage with the bases loaded, the whole dynamic changes.

To replace Harris at this point would cost more than it would return, unless we were getting a significant upgrade.

We have been pounding the Royals who are in our division, won 2 of 3 from the D-Rays, and are 2-3 versus the Yankees.

And yah optimism seems to be at a minimum on most Sox boards, but that just does not fit my personality.
