Heads22
He's been damn impressive thus far...he's actually playing better than Frank did. You guys have any thoughts?
EvilJester99
As I said in the game thread....Gload has impressed me since ST and hopefully he keeps it going all year.
danman31
He doesn't swing for the fences. We need this type of player desperately.
The Critic
I'm certainly not burying Frank Thomas just yet, but Gload has looked good at the plate so far. Patient and yet aggressive when he gets his pitch. Great to see.
danman31
I'm certainly not burying Frank Thomas just yet I don't think many of us are. He has been drawing enough walks to be very solid this season. The amazing thing is that Frank's obp of .451 is only beaten by Gload's .529. Gotta love depth!
winninguglyin83
Gload is a huge improvement over Daubach, who is the guy he replaced. cheaper. more versatile. I'd like to see him at first base a little more. they say he can really field.
The Critic
I don't think many of us are. There is always that minority of fans looking for the demise of Frank Thomas. The ones who think that 6 to 8 mil per year is too much to pay for 40 HR and 100+ RBI. Those are the only ones I was referring to.

UofIChiSox
As well as Gload's done, although I know it is early, maybe it sucks that we can get stuck with Thomas for $8 mil next year. Maybe we should rip up his contract like he wants.
whitesoxin'
Is 3rd a possibility? I think Crede will defiantly come around, don't give up on him just yet. But, I wouldn't mind him getting a start there or at first, third, or the outfield, if maggs moves to center maybe he can play right. Reddy
yeah i really really like gload, he's a guy i dont want to see gone. Make him play any position so long as he plays. I like the 3B idea... if crede decides not to come around.

Maybe we should rip up his contract like he wants. This guy is a supposed superior defensive first baseman who can really pick the ball. He might end up replacing PK at some point. He is considered short for a first baseman, which has kept him from being a full time starter elsewhere. However, I don't think that is going to be as much of a problem as some think. With that said, I have no qualms about hanging to PK, although if his contract becomes a concern, Gload seems to be a good consideration to replace him. Good amount of speed for a first baseman too. Rooftop Shots
As far as replacing Frank, as of now, I don't even consider that an option. Frank in the lineup is still very intimidating along with our other 3 ball crunchers. His experience is also invaluable as well. I agree that Gload's depth is valuable to us (a ton more than Daubach), but by far, he has not earned a spot to replace Frank. I've liked Gload ever since I saw the likes of him in ST. The balls he "Consistently" hit were not cheap shots. Add, a lefty bat along with it, and this guy is a keeper. Anybody know any background on this guy? Age? Was he with another club before? Does he have any other major league experience in the past?
WillieHarris2
i like gload but i dont think he should replace frank. he definetly adds solid depth that we need coming off the bench.

greg775
If Gload keeps this up, KW deserves to 'gloat' for acquiring him.

As far as I'm concerned, the Big Skirt can stay on the DL as long as he wants to. At least now that he's hurt he has a reason to cry. Gload isn't going to replace the Big Hurt, but it's nice to see someone we can count on as a sub for a corner OF'er, at 1B or DH. He is a real gem. Having that strong bench and role players is what brings championships. Uribe-Perez-Gload

YASNY
During that nervous ninth inning, as that ball scooted past Konerko .... I'm wondering, "Why isn't Gload at first and Konerko DH-ing?"

It should be on my Future Sox Position Player preview article, I think we traded him for Wade Parrish. We got Pacheco for Sandy Alomar Jr.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Nobody said worse things about Gload than I did last winter, and obviously I was wrong. He's done well, he's a good guy to have on the bench as a fill in. I still don't see him as an everyday player, but then I have been wrong on this before. Kudos to Gload for what he's accomplished. Viva Ozzie!
