With the 14th Pick in the Draft, The Bears Select

Recommended Posts

So, it's about 13 hours until the draft - I am pumped - A White Sox Winner, plus the anticipation of the draft may cause me to catch zero sleep tonight.

Don Pierson really swayed me on Lee Evans. His speed is something that, Lovie says we need at our WR position. Well, a 4.3 Fourty Yard Dash is damn fast - run year removed from a torn ACL. He also really never had a great QB at Wisconson. I'd have no problem if the Bears were really interested in him and took him, however, I don't think he should be taken at 14, so maybe they could trade down and get an extra pick/player.

But, after saying that, I look at our defensive line, specifically defensive tackles - and I see B-Rob, Aaron Boone, and Ian Scott. Ugh. That's where I think Tommie Harris or Vince Wilfork should be picked. If I had the choice of them both, I take Wilfork, because he has a deceptive quickness and takes up two blockers.

LOL, and then another possibility, as perhaps Miami realizes that they aren't going to get the world for Ogunlye (sp?), and they end up trading their 20th pick with Ogunlye to the Bears for the 14th, a fourth rounder, and Aaron Gibson. I would definitily take this trade. And if we had the 20th pick - there's Lee Evans, Possibly DJ Williams, John Vilma, hell, maybe even Harris falls to us (unlikely).

Wow, the possibilities... I think if my decision would be to trade the pick if that Miami offer is there, if not, then just take Wilfork at 14. I know there have been countless posts about this, and I'm sorry for making yet another one of these, but after soaking in all of the "experts" scouting-reports on most of the players, what would you guys do?

Draft days are always exciting. I hope the Bears get a franchise player, with wherever they pick.

One of the proposed deals for Ogunleye(1st, 2nd/3rd, and Gandy/Gibson for Miami's 1st[20th overall] and Ogun) would be perfect in that scenario. They get a good damn DE who is a sack-master, and get Evans at 20(maybe a little high, but it is better then taking him at 14), and they can still get a decent DT with their 2nd/3rd round pick. If they have their 2nd, I would guess they'd look at Olshansky. If 3rd, I couldn't tell you off the top of my head. Miami could then secure Andrews at 14.

Here's my prediction: With the 14th Pick in the Draft, we have a trade to announce. The Bears trade Aaron Gison, the 14th pick, and a 2nd round pick to the Miami Dolphins for Adawale Ogunleye and the Dolphins 1st round pick (20 Overall.) So, with the 20th pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select....Lee Evans, WR from the University of Wisconsin.

Still can't see the Bears pickin a WR. If Harris or Wilfork are still on the board when the Bears pick at #14, I think they go with one of them, othawise they trade down with Miami or Dallas. They won't take Evans at #20, Evans won't go in the 1st round, he's slippin, Reggie Williams could still be on the board and would be a much betta pick. My sleeper for the Bears pick though is Will Smith, if they can't get Ogunleye, then could seriously look at this pass rushing DE.

Bears will take Ryan Dinwiddie. If anyone can tell me about him without looking him up, you will gain instant respect. Also, if you can tell me his connection to a current Bear player, double bonus points.

with the top de player now being hurt, vince wilfork imo will be gone by the time the 14th come along.

i thought the bears wanted wilfork, but a trade may happen to move down and still go for the next best option at the dl.

670 and 780 AM, I believe.  I'm listening to 670 right now, but watching ESPN.

BTW, I hate Mel Kiper.

Five minutes away from the draft!!!!! :headbang

Who doesn't?

Try to keep us updated on any big news there.

I am not listening to the radio. Any rumor as to what the Bears may do?

as i posted earlier, the top de on the board is hurt and may require a complete reconstructive surgery on the shoulder, so wilfork who i think the bears wanted may not be there.

that will hurt us big time

what are your thoughts on the bears and 14th pick/

Well, I think it depends on who's there - There's a couple players that, if they happen to fall to the 14th spot, I definitely take them, like Roy Williams and DeAngelo Hall. However, they likely won't be there at 14.

So, I see a huge need at DT - right now we have Alfonso Boone and Bryan Robinson penciled in as our starting DT, which isn't good. So, as much as I'd love to take a player like WR Lee Evans from Wisconson, or Johnathan Vilma, LB from Miami, I think that we need to select a defensive tackle.

Vince Wilfork is my choice for the Bears at 14. He's big and deceptively quick, he'll free up our DEs, and he'll provide pressure himself.
