New Line-Up thread

Well Ozzie pulled a JM today and put a Sunday line-up on the field --

Carlos has shown he can't get the job done in the #5 spot -- Crede's been terrible

What would you do to change the line-up?? I'll post one in a bit, but it will likely take an hour for me to finish the dissertation I'm going to write.

This is for when Jose Valentin returns.

1.) Juan Uribe - though I might make a switch and put Rowand here, Rowand seems to have good numbers in the leadoff spot. I'm not sure if I want a free swinger like Uribe in the one spot, but until he slows down, I'll stick him here.

2.) Carlos Lee - He simply hits better in this part of the lineup. He seems to take more pitches here, and he sees better pitches, which leads to better average and OBP.

3.) Ordonez - I'm fine with him here.

4.) Thomas - He's OK here too.

5.) Konerko - He's on fire, and he's a lot better equipped hitting in this spot then say Carlos Lee.

6.) Valentin - Break up the righties, plus Valentin performs better lower in the lineup.

7.) Crede - Crede is OK at the seventh spot, especially when he catches fire. He'll provide some nice pop this season.

8.) Rowand - See how he does down here. If Uribe doesn't get the job done, swap Uribe and Rowand. I'm OK with Rowand down here, though.

9.) Olivo - He'll provide some nice pop and some speed in the nine hole, and by no means is an easy out anymore. He seems to be now able to lay off of that breaking ball that's down and away.

Harris

Uribe

Maggs

Frank

Konerko

Gload

Crede

Rowand

Olivo/Alomar

or

Uribe/Harris

Jose

etc.

Trade Carlos. I've never liked him and never will. He plays stupid and his defense is a liability at times. Get a SP for him and hope Reed can step in well.

1) Uribe - 2B

2) Rowand - CF

3) Ordonez - RF

4) Thomas - DH/1B

5) Konerko - 1B/DH

6) Valentin - SS

7) Lee - LF

8) Olivo/Alomar - C

9) Crede - 3B

If Crede does not improve his game by July, we need to look into a different 3Bman(can't be positive he would be available, but I would look at Aubrey Huff from Tampa, even with him struggling now). We could also look into trading Lee for a starter, but keeping him would not hurt my feelings.

I'm taking a page from Brando earlier in the Year, I say we have two different line-ups, based on the pitcher we face ... One for Righties, One for lefties. (all stats do not include Saturday's game)

Vs. Righties

#1) 2B - Harris - He's only batting .260 vs. Righties, while only getting on base at a .305 clip, but I give him a little more time to prove he can produce out of the #1 spot

#2) LF - Lee - Hit's righties better than Lefties, and BA >.300 from the #2 spot

#3) RF - Maggs - No complaints so far about maggs

#4) DH - Thomas - Has been getting on base at a career best pace -- To bad it's been leading off the second inning too much

#5) 1B - Konerko/Gload -- give gload some starts vs. righties -- Konerko really struggled with them last season, but looks more comfortable this season -- and his RBI numbers look good so far.

#6) SS - Valentin/Uribe -- Valentin has come around vs. the lefties and will warant some play vs. both (split time)

#7) CF - Rowand -- has just been flat out better than Joe -- Uribe could be put in here at third occasionally

#8) C - Alomar/Olivo -- Sandy has a better average vs. Righties than lefties -- So if Buerhle is pitching vs. a Righy it shuold be a no brainer -- But if Carl Crawford is on the other team, Olivo should be out there

#9) 3B - Crede - just been flat terrible -- Drop him to ninth until he gets out of his funk -- shift the CF and C slot down if Uribe gets the start at third

vs. Lefties (this is a potent f***ing Line-up)

#1) SS/3B/2B - Uribe find him a position to play -- He should play every game vs. lefties -- Batting .375 w/ a .444OBP so far this season vs. lefties

#2) CF - Rowand - Career .385 hitter in the #2 spot - career .300 hitter vs. Lefties

#3) RF - Maggs - No brainer

#4) DH - Thomas - Best hitter in Majors vs. Lefties

#5) 1B - Konerko - Had the biggest disparity of any hitter in the majors in Lefty/Righty BA last season-- Crushes LHer's

#6) LF - Lee - Move him down a spot in the order -- career he hasn't hit lefties as well as righties, but he's over .400 vs. LH this year.

#7) SS - Valentine/Uribe - If willie does lead off vs. a LHP, Uribe better get in the game somewhere-- Either #2 hole or here as a SS

#8) C - Olivo/Alomar -- Olivo has always hit LHP, now he's really punishing them though

#9) 3B - Crede/Uribe - Joe moves down, if he begins to hit he can go up to the #6 spot vs. LHP, but for how You've EARNED the #9 spot joe.

Harris is not a major league hitter. KW blew it big-time. Sox will continue hemorraging losses until we get Spivey or Roberts.

Crede is gonna figure it out and turn himself into an All-Star. He has it in flashes. He is still young and I wouldn't trade for another young guy in Aubrey Huff.

Not making it makes little sense to me. For Crede(a kid who has looked like s*** and only shown brilliance on occasions), you get Aubrey Huff, a LH power bat at 3B. Crede's better defensively, but I just don't know how you can't take Huff.

But to each his own.

My point is getting Huff basically wastes Crede. Crede would have to be involved in the deal and I'd hate to give up on him this early.

Just curious as to why you would move Thomas back to the 3rd spot in the lineup. Maggs has really done nothing to lose his spot in the order.

Do not tell me it is Thomas's OBP. Part of the reason Thomas moved was due to his OBP and Maggs constantly GIDPing after a Thomas walk.
