Because I don't think you can look at all of that pain and suffering and not be confused that it is allowed to happen with so little noise given to i

And yet....for 5,000+ years, everything you describe has pretty much been yawned at.

You probably shouldn't visit Dominican Republic or Rwanda or the rest of the world for that matter. Lots of poverty and alienation and suffering.

And that Chelsea is a Rhodes scholar and pretty much all around good girl...

Do you really think so highly of politicians that they don't dig the dirt? Puh-leaze, if there was dirt to be had on Chelsea we would have heard it. Rip on the rest of the family, but leave that girl alone.

I agree with that. God knows how she ended up such an outstanding young lady with a screwed up family like that.

OK then.  You want it you got it.

With that much outrage I guess I musta imagined everyone mocking Bush with pictures of chimps and making fun of Bush Jr etc... Spare me the outrage

I called you out by name? I responded to your post. If you were trying to say

Honestly, I think it is funny.
I missed it.

What you think is "complete hypocritical bulls***" and what I think are two different things, obviously.

I cannot track how this angry exchange or anger exchange here began. I never had any anger towards you.

It is not worth it. I cannot think of more to say. On some things we totally and absolutely flat out disagree.

You have wrong before and you will be again. ;)  I think of the anniversary of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan... whether it was February 2nd or 9th

I have been wrong many times. It is a risk of living and thinking.

I have no quarrel with you nor anger at you.

And my state has more electoral votes than your state  :usa :usa

And your state's football and basketball teams suck too! :bringit

I've been around to many different places and seen many different types of suffering. My not travelling and seeing the suffering in those types of places would only make me guilty of turning a blind eye--I know, acknowledge, and care about what happens in the world.

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying, but there is suffering everywhere (of which I am well aware). And I can assure you that I am always shocked and really heartbroken(a lot, lot, lot) by what happens overseas--but I can best ease some of that hurting and help people here in my neighborhood. That does not mean that what happens far away is far from my mind or conscience; it only means I help where I feel am able and where I can, I think, do the most.

I thought

Human civilizaton has been tolerating this and worse for millenii.

Why are you so surprised?

is self-explanatory.

You have a beautiful heart if I may say, but most people do not give a f*** -- or rather don't give nearly enough f*** as to actually make a difference and help in eradicating all those unpleasant things (poverty, alienation, suffering, the works) you talked about. Never have in fact, outside of a precious few moral sheriffs like Ghandi.

We're built that way. Take it up with the Creator.

You may say so.

And I agree it is our tendency towards apathy as a society that makes me as upset as the actual injustices. It's frustrating, sad, shocking, re-victimizing, etc.

I wouldn't say we're built that way--I would say we have made it that way, we have chosen the comfort of apathy over the discomfort of change and fighting for what is right. But then again, I do count Camus and Sartre as my favorite philosophers--so I am much more inclined to the existentialist thinking. But that's an argument that I don't feel like engaging in. :)

To mock Hillary for who she is - the wife of Bill - is to ignore the GW is the son of GHW.  Political conversation comes when you can understand that you complain about the winner of the popular vote being elected - that is democracy - can you then at least understand that others may feel differently than you and accept their viewpoint as valid, not mock it, even though you disagree?  In some people's opinions, Hillary has done much.  Your view, nothing.  Can you accept the validity of the feelings of others?  I could easily say:

I live in the USA and i can not stand that G W Bush is a president here. What exactly has he done except try and raise his political rank? Nothing. He has done absolutely nothing for us.  He didn't even win the majority of the vote. The Supreme Court is so republican, and that, coupled with the fact of who he is, is why he won. I have zero respect for him and am ashamed that he supposedly represents me, and i am also upset that he has not done anything constructive for our nation. And yes, we have many problems here that need addressing.

I prefer Hillary to GW.  I think she is smarter, works harder, has a far greater intellectual curiousity, and is no where near as rigid and closed to new concepts. For the election, I certainly feel that Kerry is the far preferable choice on those factors alone.

of couyrse you're entitled to your opinion. But to say George Bush hasnt done anything is absurd. Ok, so you may not like him, and thats your prerogative. But Hilary Clinton has literally done NOTHING. Zero. Nothing good, nothing bad. But NOTHING, and that in and of itself, in my opinion, is bad. You can point to things Bush has done that in your OPINION are bad all you want and you have that right. My point is, Hilary Clinton has not done a damned thing. Worthless. She is being paid to parade around as a Senator, for she doesnt do a damned thing. Even if i put aside that i disagree with just about everything she stands for and that i have zero respect for her. Put that aside, and i can still say she has been an absolutely awful Senator. Voting for her when time comes from her re-election, is literally voting for someone who doesnt give two s***s about the state and as evidenced by her track record, doesnt care enough to do anything
