Guest hotsoxchick1
i found this very funny... amazing how some grown people act these days isnt it... hey lets hope bud can handle this better than he does the other mlb problems.........lol CINCINNATI -- Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is urging Marge Schott to drop her lawsuit seeking better seats in Cincinnati's new ballpark, but the former controlling owner of the Reds has no plans to drop her case. "This issue has to be resolved by a judge,'' Schott's lawyer, Mark Wasserman, said Friday. In a one-page letter to Schott dated Wednesday, Selig asked her to dismiss her lawsuit. "Based on everything I know, and the background of your agreement of April 1999, I have to admit that I am very disappointed in your conduct and I urge you to promptly dismiss the litigation," Selig wrote in the letter. Schott sued Monday, saying she's entitled to a private box and premium-section seats in the Great American Ball Park, comparable to what she had in Cinergy Field. Schott sold he controlling share of the team in 1999 to Carl Lindner. Her lawsuit is against Great American Insurance Co., of which Lindner is chairman. No date has been set for a hearing. Schott spokesman Arnold Barnett said she had not seen the letter, which was provided to Cincinnati newspapers on Thursday. Schott did not return a call Friday to her office at her Buick auto dealership. "Marge, after all you went through to get the new ballpark going, please do not have a disruptive impact on the fans' excitement and the goodwill surrounding the opening of Great American Ball Park,'' Selig wrote. "I expect you to resolve this dispute promptly by dismissing the claims and comporting yourself appropriately, rather than attacking Mr. Lindner.'' Schott had use of a private box at Cinergy Field and 21 seats in the first two rows. The Reds say they will allow her 21 seats in the new stadium in rows 34 to 36 between home plate and the Reds dugout down the first-base line, along with limited use of the Reds owners' suite. As was the case at Cinergy, the Reds say Schott will not be charged for use of the box or the seats. Selig said the Reds' arrangements with Schott are appropriate, in relation to her one-thirteenth ownership stake in the team. "This seems to me to be an eminently reasonable solution and I am shocked you would think otherwise,'' Selig wrote.

Chisoxfn
Why was she forced to sell anyway? I can't remember, but I thought it was for comments she said, but I can't recall what.

Chisoxfn
Thats what I thought happened. Were they that bad as to force her out of being an owner? I always thought as an owner of a company you could do whatever you pleased, statements wise as long as you weren't favoring different ethnicities. I do think Private companies can favor people, but if your a public entity your not entitled to that. I'm not a lawyer though. Either way, I don't like the gal, but she's got a legitimate grief. First off she was screwed by MLB which forced her to sell something she loved. Now she gets screwed out of her box for something she paid for. I don't think a team can just boot someone because they disagree with what they say, unless they are yelling this type of remarks at a game to the point it offends those around her. She made "racially insensitive" comments. I'm not into political correctness but this lady was a complete boor. "Racially insensitive" doesn't even come close. She called Eric Davis her "million dollar n****". When umpire John McSherry died of a heart attack on opening day ( I forget the year ) she b****ed and moaned when MLB made her cancel the game. Quite a charming dame.
CubKilla
If I'm not mistaken, she was overheard using the dreaded "N" word numerous times and made comments to the black Cincinatti Reds player's similar to those that Jimmy "the Greek" uttered about how slavery and breeding are two of the reasons why black athletes sometimes surpass white athletes. witesoxfan
Again, I must ask... Why can't she just die? - Pete Because she is an old, rich person that is an asshole.....the exact same reason Carl Pohlad hasn't died yet and (prior to this season) the same reason JR hadn't died yet. However, I am liking JR a little more. Pohlad should die though....he is worth like $2 billion or something like that and the Twins payroll is slightly over $50 million(which is the highest it's been in team history by quite a bit, I believe). Do you realize how damn good the Twins could be if Pohlad dished out some money? They could be the frickin Yankees.
