1549
I think so far, Willie, Uribe, Paulie, Olivo, and Schoeneweis and Adkins have all performed better than I was expecting. Some may argue that Willie has been a let down, but considering that this is his first month as an everyday player he isn't doing that bad. I just hope he starts seeing a few more pitches. I don't think there have been too many let downs...which is obviously a plus. Any opinions on the subject?

SnB
Everyone I'm been pleased with except: Valentin (too many costly errors early) Buehrle (giving up too many runs) Crede (too many damn pop outs) Rowand (nothign really special from him)
Rooftop Shots
Pleased:Loaiza, Adkins, Politte,,Konerko, C.Lee,, Maggs. Disappointed: Totally fed up with countless and unnecessary walks. If the opponent hits, so be it! But handing them opportunities (especially late in the game)is unexcuseable! Looking for Frank to start cracking the daylights out of the ball. Still waiting! Also. still looking for Crede's bat to be consistent and a threat at the plate. Right now....too erratic. Semi-Pleased: Garland, Olivo, Schoney,Ozzie
1549
I can't say I agree with putting Rowand in the dog house, mostly becasue I think he is playing about where his talent level is. He has played some solid defense and can probably hit better than he is now, but I think the guy has the offensive tools of a fourth outfielder. Crede got off to a slow start last year too, hopefully he will come around.
WSoxShuf
Pleased:: Uribe, Kong, Schoe, the Bullpen(especially Shingo, Adkins, Cliff) Thomas's attitude on the field Joey Cora(no f***ups yet) Ok with Garland, Rowand, our Team Defense, Buerhle. Pissed with Lee(having a s***ty season) Maggs(in my opinon not too great except for against KC Valentin hitting just as a Lefty Want to kill Cred, still turn off the tv every time he hits, unless its for a sacrifice to win a game. gsoxs1
I am pleased with the way the team is playing, they actually show some heart. I think Crede has been the biggest dispointment so far. Buehrle needs to step it up. I would like to see another starter and have Danny Wright the closer he has great stuff for an ining. Postive we are 6-1 in one run games. The bullpen is among the leagues best. We are 11-7 and are bats have not heated up yet. I thinkw we are going to put a whopping on the Tribe and JAys. Gene Honda Civic
i guess i my expectations were too big on rowand, i thought he'd be better than the way he's played so far. Rowand's avg. is 20 points below his career average -- three games ago it was 10 points above -- It's too early to judge -- You can rightfully be disappointed with Aaron in RBI situations. -- Batting .100 with runners on base, and .083 with RISP -- Still it's early, but that shows me he is pressing -- Especially when he's batting .370 when the basepaths are clear -------------------------- Carlos lee is in the same boat as Aaron -- his average is not that far off his career average, but he is woeful w/ runners on. -- .161 w/runners on, .167 w/RISP
cwsox
I was very pleased it did not snow, sleet, rain, or hail on opening day. I am very pleased I haven't had to start an Ozze Death Watch here yet. I am not disappointed that I cannot think of anything with which I am really disappointed.

witesoxfan
I am very pleased with the overall attitude of the team. I have no doubt that this team would be below .500 and quite possibly even in last place if JM was managing. The fact that we are a .5 game out of first place with this team shows what Oz-ball has done for this team. Kudos Oz. Offensively, I've been disappointed with Lee and Crede. Crede has looked like s*** at the plate, and looking like s*** at the plate in the major leagues is not good. He needs to make a serious adjustment in a hurry. However, I think I'm actually more disappointed in Carlos. IMO, he just has not been the player we have needed him to be. For $6 mill a year, he should atleast be hitting his weight with RISP....IIRC, he's not even hitting MY weight(and I weigh about 150). Rowand not hitting in those types of situations is not good, but considering that he is making less the $500,000 a year, I can handle it, so long as his average is decent, he hits a few homers, and plays above average defense with an above average arm. Pitching-wise, the only disappointment I've seen is Dan Wright, but placing the blame on him is really not fair. I would much, much rather have a solid #5 with Wright in the pen then having him start. He is ugly as a starter, and IMO, with a good #5(a good #5 is not keeping your team in the ballgame, it's giving your team a chance to win, and there is a difference(atleast to me). Keeping your team in the ball game means you only give up 3 or 4, and in some cases 5 runs, regardless of how your team does offensively...giving your team a chance to win means you throw a shutout if your team isn't scoring, and if the team is scoring, letting home a few runs is not a huge deal...at the very least, I want my #5 to be able to pitch 6-7 innings on any given day, regardless of whether he gives us 6 runs, 4 runs, 2 runs, or no runs). What would have been wrong with signing Pat Hentgen or Rick Helling? I've also been surprised and yet disappointed in Koch this year at the same time. The guy's stuff looks like it's almost coming back, yet he is still very, very hittable. He has no command on the mound. Having command is much more important then having velocity. Joe Borowski throws it 91-93, yet gets people out, without a huge snapdragon breaking ball. Billy Koch throws it 94-96, yet does NOT get people out. What gives? I think Koch is worrying too much about the 2 numbers that come up on the radar screen...he wants it to reach 3 numbers like it did 2-3 years ago. He does not and should not need to worry about that. He should worry about making good pitches and getting guys out. Basically, I want him to pitch, not throw.
KipWellsFan
Pleased Adkins (Before this year never proved to be anything more than a mopup guy) Cotts (Been very reliable in the lefty reliever role) Mike Jackson (I guess he's not too old, we'll see how he copes as the season continues) Loaiza (I have to admit I thought he was going to suck in comparison to last year) Schoeneweis Garland (Kudos to Ozzie?) Gload (More than adequate so far off the bench) Uribe (Wow) Konerko (Props for the great comeback year... so far) Thomas (Seems like he's doing a great job as a leader) Disapointments Koch (But not really... hasn't really had a great chance to disapoint me) Crede (I guess but it's still early, and he has made some important plays)
greg775
Pleased: Ozzie, Konerko, Maggs, Lee, Olivo, Esteban. Disappointed: Koch. Not thrilled about: Crede, Harris, Sandy.

israel4ever
In general terms, I am pleased with the way the Sox have played as of now. Remember, we have played 7 games against the Yankees (playoff contenders), we have played 6 (7?) with the Royals (playoff contenders), and have played a much improved D-Rays club, and we are currently 11-8. (Compare that with the crosstown loser cubs, who are only 1/2 game better, but have played Pittsburgh, Cincy, and the Mets.) The Sox are playing okay ball, but will get much better when Thomas, Lee, Ordonez, Crede, Valentin and Rowand's bats get hot. (inevitable) I am still worried about Wright as the 5th starter, and our still suspect bullpen. I wouldn't give up on Wunsch yet. Maybe they should try Cotts (Grilli?) as the 5th starter, put Wunsch in the pen (when he's healthy) and make Wright a long reliever. Or, if the Sox truly believe that Uribe is not a flash-in-the-pan, package Valentin and Wunsch in a deal for a starter (to Seattle, for Soriano and Winn?) knightni
I think the pitchers give up way too many walks. Do you think they are trying to spot their pitches and missing, or is it just cold weather and the cut fast ball that attributes to the high amount of walks? Queen Prawn
So far so good. The one person that has really impressed so far is Kelly Dransfeldt.
SoIL
I too am very pleased with the results so far. Stats are nice, but winning is the bottom line. I'm most happy with the team attitude and the heart they have shown so far. They've had some bad moments but as far as the outcome, they've been pretty steady. BrandoFan
Disappointed: Looking for Frank to start cracking the daylights out of the ball. The man has 492 OBP and 570 Slug..... Jose batting all-lefty Yes, because batting .100 with no power as a RH'er is better than .300 with some power as lefty-on-lefty......
