We should probably package Valentin and Wunsch in a trade for a pitcher, or a left handed bat off the bench.

I'd hate to trade Wunsch, but where are the Sox gonna put him? (Besides, he's the Sox player rep, and we have a history of dumping our player reps.)

We need Valentin and his LH stick.

Send Willie and Kelly

Yet another reason why Jeremy Reed can't come up soon enough

2004 Individual Statistics - Charlotte Knights

Complete through Thursday, Apr 29

Batters BA SLG G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS E
J.Reed .338 .450 19 80 9 27 36 7 1 0 7 3 12 6 0 0

---------------------

Prior to this season Jeremy Reed was walking twice and much as he was striking out. He was walking at a pace about .8/G, and strikeing out about .4/G --

Right now he is walking at .15/G, and striking out .6/game -- That trend, coupled with his lackluster performace in spring training, makes me want him to see more time in the minors. He is only in his 3-year of Pro ball.

Clutch is BS?  I'd like to hear a reasonable explanation on this one.

That's because S-metric dorks like Bill James forget that the game is played by humans and not zombie-robots.

They see a batter batting 300 with RISP one year, then 260 next and 340 the next......and think this "unhealthy" deviation indicates luck.

Guess what? Even clutchest of clutch hitters go into funks, pitchers stop feeding them when ducks are on the pond, they overswing, etc.

Tell the Marlin fans that I-Rod's incredible clutch-hitting that carried them into the WS last year was luck manifest.

I could even refute your Pudge

You see, it wouldn't matter a lick if I-Rod's career numbers with RISP are well below 2003 because nothing changes what he did in 2003. When he hit a 95mph fastball up and away to RF in a do-or-die situation in NLDS, it wasn't "luck" -- at least no more luck than him hitting that pitch in Spring Training.

Some people are smarter than others. Some people are prettier. Some are more clutch. Sometimes "conventional wisdom" that Billy Caesar and his ilk despise so has survivided centuries for a good reason.

Yeah he needs to work more on his plate discipline, 3 BB's and 12 K's is not a good stat to hav, but Reed's hittin betta off lefties this year as well, which was one of his minor weaknesses last season if he had 1. :o
