My thoughts on Harris

Honestly, I am really sick of hearing get rid of Valentin being wanted out of here from local reporters. (IE: Phil Rodgers, Jay Mariotti). Seriously, shouldn't we all be talking about designating Willie Harris for assignment or at least bringing him to AAA. He's a career AAAA player at best, I'd have to say. Feel free to argue with me, but stats prove that a Jose Valentin, Juan Uribe choose to show that a combo with Harris and Valentin sucks. Now obviously what I want is not going to happen, but, still that being addressed, it brings up a good point of stats in order to win. Now next year, with Valentin likely to retire/depart, would you rather have good old Dransfeldt (SP? sorry) with Uribe or Harris and Uribe. Just think for a moment about this.

Thanks! Can't wait to see your opinions!

harris might never hit the ball hard but the bottom line is we are most likey going to be stuck with him at least till the all star break..... and he is really good at defense and when he gets on base he is always a threat to steal and thats what ozzie is looking for....

Like I told Steff at Soxfest, this guy has til early May to show us something or he is going back to the minors, I think once Jose is back, move Uribe to full time at 2B and either bench/demote Willie...Just my two cents though.

Well we are 13-8 with him in there, and with as good an offense as we have right now I think we can deal with Willie trying to get into a groove. He hasn't been as terrible as many of you think and he has had some very good games. Of course when Valentin gets back I think we're going to have to bump him from the starting lineup, especially with how great Uribe has been hitting. But I certainly don't agree with dropping Harris before Dransfeldt.

It's hard to give up on a talent like Willie Harris.

But we CANNOT have a sub-.300 OBP guy leading off for us, especially when we have a guy who is hitting .385 or so and is still fast as hell, until the all-star break. Harris will be kept on the team, but will be used as a backup MI/OF. If he can figure it out, good for him. If not, see ya later.

If he isn't doing s*** and we're in mid-May, HE GAWN(well, HE GAWN to the bench)

I still think a trade is very possible in the future for a 2B if Willie doesn't pick it up. I can see KW goin afta one of these 3, Brian Roberts, Jerry Hairston Jr., or Scott Hairston. I think Willie needs to bunt more as well, as least put the ball in play and giv himself a chance to get on base. I think Uribe is a perfect #2 hitter, and I'd rather see Reed leadin off instead of Uribe.

I dont think it will come through Baltimore. If we are in the thick of things, I think Vidro will be the main target. I would LOVE Soriano, but he may be a little pricey. If we cant get Vidro, we will obviously look at a bunch of players including who you mentioned.

how about getting someone like michael young.... the rangers are desperate for pitching so i think it can be done... even though he is playing ss this year his natural position is 2nd base

I'd like either of the two in the up-the-middle combo of Texas. Either Soriano or Young would be pretty good players. We'd have to give up Cotts for sure, probably Rauch, and maybe Diaz as well.

I'd rather get another starter first and foremost, and then look at a good LH bat for the middle of the lineup, then a good 2Bman. In that order

Young is doing awesome, and I believe he is young. I think Soriano would be the one moved, which would take Cotts and much more.

I do agree and I think I'd rather have Soriano over Young.

However, I would take Uribe over either if you can get me Garcia/Wells/Piniero/RJ/etc and a good lefty bat for the middle of the lineup. If you can get me both of those, then worry about 2B.

I think Uribe and Valentin will be fine up the middle for this year atleast.

As good of a hitter as Soriano is, he's not the type of player we need. He's a free swinging right handed power hitter with a very questionable glove. We need some one that can play defense, get on base, steal a base, situationally hit, etc. We certainly don't need to trade good young pitching for someone like Soriano.
