Rex Hudler
I want Rauch. We already have 2 good catcher's.... Don't think of Burke as a third catcher. Think of him as an extra bat off the bench and a guy who can play a few different positions. The Sox won't go with 12 pitcher's all year, so let's not get too wrapped up in the pitcher for position player swap. Another move of some kind will be made when it is time. SoxFan1
Looks like Cottsy is our new 5th starter.
EvilJester99
I bet Cotts goes to the 5th spot and Wunsch comes back to the pen soon.
whitesoxin'
Yes! Danny boy is gone! Let's hope Neal can take advantage of this opportunity.
Be Good
Looks like Cottsy is our new 5th starter. He's my 2nd choice next to Rauch.
greasywheels121
I'm glad to see Wright get out of the rotation. I didn't think it would take this. I still feel he could have been valuable for some MR innings in our bullpen, and just put Cotts at the number 5.
1549
This makes me ponder Dan Wright's future. He is obviously throwing softer than he did in 2002. He was 93-94, now he is 89-90, I even saw him drop some of his fastballs down to 87. He is a wild knuckle curve pitcher, he needs the extra velocity. If he had Mike Mussina control, he could get away with it, but the guy can't find the plate. I used to just assume that if Dan Wright failed as a starter, he could have a nice career out of the pen, but right now, I don't see it. Hopefully this is just a slow start, and I would like to see Wright excell when we bring him back up.

Soxfest
About time he should of never been the 5th starter.
Xero
I don't understand it either...they have solid catching already with Miguel and Sandy, no need for Burke...
CWSGuy406
I don't understand it either...they have solid catching already with Miguel and Sandy, no need for Burke... Like someone said earlier in the thread, don't think about Burke as a third catcher. He plays multiple positions including 3B IIRC, and is just an extra bat off of the bench. You can also now sub catchers and still have another catcher off the bench. They'll go to a four man rotation for the next week or so, until they actually need the fifth starter. elrockinMT
Didn't read all the POSTS so I don't know if anyone has more info, but it really sounds like the Sox are sticking with Danny Wright as the #5 starter. Ozzie said they don't need him for 15 days so this is the chance for Dan to get things worked out in AAA, if he can. Burke seems to give the team more flexibility and another bat. Now, someone mentioned that maybe something else is in the works. Well, maybe, but doesn't seem to make much sense. We seem to be pretty well settled on who we have except for that 5th starter and that pitcher could most certainly come from AAA, if Wright isn't able to rebound. YASNY
I've been one of those that believed Wright would come through if he just got a fair chance to prove himself. He got it. He didn't come through. It's time to figure who can be our fifth starter and put Wright in whatever slot he can fill, even if it's AAA.
