1549
Very sad. My question is, how would cerebral palsy cause him to fall out? I thought it was a breathing ailment, but I may be thinking of something else. I remember in Houston a mentally handicapped child crawled out of his harness on the "giant drop" ride and fell, a few years ago. Perhaps people with handicaps should be given a warning, or have a special supervisor in the seat next to them.

I would be surprised if they didn't have something. Besides how smart is that to do in the first place???
Spiff
I've been on that ride a couple dozen times, it's a solid coaster. They said he fell off toward the end, the end of the ride has a couple short hills, then a banked turn to the right if I remember correctly, with the fence on the left side. Maybe he wasn't fully strapped in, was on the outside seat on the turn and leaned to the left, getting thrown out? A couple years ago, the same ride's power cut off as a car was coming into the station, and the whole staff (one of my friends was working on the ride) knew it was going to hit the car that was already in the station, but they couldn't do anything about it. This is the third death I can remember at this park in the last six or seven years.
Texsox
When I worked at Great America (now Six Flags) we had a guest that wiggled out of his seat on the Turn of the Century (now Demon) and almost fell out coming into the station. Scared me to death. We also had a car stuck on the lift and had to help people down the stairs.

WSoxShuf
I hate roller coasters for this reason. Well not the health problem, but the falling out.
Steff
His mother asked why they would let him ride in the first place.. yet I'd bet the farm if they didn't she be running to the nearest lawyer to file a discrimination suit. Geez.. people with handicaps are just that.. people with handicaps. They aren't dead, nor are they not allowed to have fun. Obviously (since the guy visited there several times a year - her words) had been on it before without issue. It was an accident.

Didn't a few people die many years ago at GA on the ride called "The Edge"?
Texsox
Turn of the Century.....my first Coaster. Didn't a few people die many years ago at GA on the ride called "The Edge"? IIRC it was the Edge, just not the one in Gurnee. Most of the Six Flags parks operate many of the same rides. Turn of the Century.....my first Coaster. My first was Willard's Wizard, followed closely by the Turn of the Century. I actually felt adding the two loops to the Turn of the Century did not help the ride.
