T R U
My point is he's NOT getting the job done. Too many walks, too high an ERA and too slow a fastball. Hes not getting the job done?? Are you sure about that, because I didnt know walks, ERA, and a slow fastball (which is 93-95, not that slow anyways) was what counted as converting a save
mike12345
Koch is getting the job done..I'll admit that he is keeping us on the edge of our seat, but he is starting to get back confidence that he completely lost last year....I think the way our bullpen is set up right now is good.... Texsox
Yeah and Foulke just blows guys away doesnt he There are exeptions. Some guys can do it with smoke and mirrors. But the majority of guys do it with some speed, not 85 mph fast balls. No intimidation factor there at all with a 85 MPH fastball; and itimidation helps relievers to be successful. T R U
No sense in conversing with you as you obviously you have issues with people's opinions.. And yea.. he did get the shaft on a few calls.. but the fact is that even Koch himself AGREES that he's pitching like crap. he's wrong, too.. right? So because I have a diff opinion from you, I have issues with opinions? .....cool ill make sure I dont have an opinion anymore to please you, since it seems that we have never agreed, ever, on anything.. Dating back to a while too
Steff
closers doesnt necessarliy have to throw heat..look at john franco Agree... but when your weapon is your FAST ball and you have no control over it... what's the point in throwing it when it ends up off the plate..? Wong & Owens
If the difference in speed was what really matters then why have all the top strikeout pitchers had a blazing fast ball? And you want strike outs from your closer. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Loaiza lead the AL in strikeouts last season? If not, he was in the top 3. A blazing fastball? Possess one, he does not. mike12345
I think Koch is an intimidating person and eh can still bring it and it has movement...I think movement is more important than just speed...any major leaguer can hit a straight 95 mph fastball.... T R U
Yeah Steff I did say "shut the hell up" and that wasnt refering to your opinions, it was refering to the b****ing ppl were doing about Koch as closer Hes getting the job done, simply put.. why you must complain? Ill never know but I can see why this is pointless, arguing with a woman will get you nowhere.. so I guess Ill just stop now.. also, I love the picture whitesoxfan99.... perfectly placed in this situation

whitesoxfan99
Paaallleaaasseee.. I MADE that!! I actually wanted to use it while you were having your argument with irish but the thread got closed before I could. As for this thread, I still state that while I would prefer a better closer, I don't think we have an option that is clearly better than Koch at this time. If you're going to accuse people of things.. make sure you're not posting a lie. Posting a lie? You can clearly go look at the demand of people who said they didnt want Koch as the closer... s***, the title of this thread is enough I wasnt even talking to you, you stuck your nose in and had to bash my opinion and then start this s*** and then accuse ME of stupid s***.. Its pointless... I could sit here and argue with some old lady on the inernet all day, im done with class for the day, and I got nothin better to do since its dead week... so please, enlighten me with your next witty remark... Wong & Owens
I believe there is a difference between a starter and a closer and the approach they need to take. Alrighty, Mr. Smarty-Jones Pants Trevor Hoffman and Keith Foulke. No super-heaters there. I don't think Rivera is known for hitting upper-90's either. Urbina, Guardado, Cordero, Borowski, Graves, and Mesa are all successful closers without high heat either, yes?

hammerhead johnson
Box scores are all that matter so if your gonna complain that we are winning and Koch is getting saves, then shame on you... Get the MLB package and watch these games. You'll have a different perspective in no time. You just can't relate unless you actually sit down and watch Koch come into a save situation. 99% of the soxtalk representatives can not be wrong....
