A. lets not ever say that again out loud, that could be a jinx B. I didn't realize that -wow! thanks for sharing! C. I agree on no way we take Uribe out I have waited years for us to be defensively sound again

witesoxfan
I think Jose will go to SS and Juan at 2B (for the millionth time ). Great minds think alike Though, Harris should continue to get playing time. Play him in CF a little more, and put Uribe(and Valentin as well) at 3B a little too. We need Valentin's LH power in the lineup...period. Heads22
I bet we shop Val, even if we are in contention unless he goes nuts....there's no room for him, and I don't see him as a backup...

Uh, Carlos Lee anyone? Making $6 mill this year, $9 mill next year, and he's still very expendable and very tradeable. Trade him, move Rowand to LF, Harris to CF, Uribe to 2B, Valentin to SS...if needed, we have room for Reed(Rowand/Harris/Uribe struggle terribly, call Reed up and put him in the lineup). I bet Lee is the one who is shopped...or atleast he should be the one shopped. I don't care if he's only 28 or so...he's the most expendable player the Sox have. BridgeportHeather
no, Willie is not slumping and I like the Uribe-Harris combo a lot - that is our future Couldn't agree more. Each knows where the other is on the field at all times and easily flips the ball to make an outstanding play (see game-ending play tonight as an example). They are feeding off each other and breaking up this up-and-coming duo would be a traveshamocrity! To say this is our best 6-4 combo in years would do them an injustice. Oz's gotta be proud of them. Chisoxfn
I think Jose will go to SS and Juan at 2B (for the millionth time ). ALl I'm going to say is that Willie is up to .280 and he's taking a lot of pitches and working the counts. I'm for a Juan Willie combo until one of them fades and I'm hoping neither do. I'm for a Juan Willie combo until one of them fades Yes, and then Valentin will magically swoop in and resume his 915 OPS-hitting (950 OPS with RISP) and league-leading range-y ways. Please. It doesn't work that way -- Valentin requires regular at bats to be effective, and if Ozzie has any brains, he'll remember who was his best player in Spring Training and who was just getting on a serious roll before going on the DL.... Valentin is the quality regular here. Uribe is the one who couldn't hit in Coors. And Harris is the one who couldn't hit in the minors. Signed, Perspective. knightni
Why not float Uribe, Harris, Valentin, Rowand and Crede in and out of CF,3b,SS and 2b? Harris can play 2b and cf, Valentin can play ss and 3b and Uribe can play 2b and ss.
YASNY
Did anyone notice that Williee didn't have his foot on the bag when he caught that flip from Uribe to end the game? He had to "find" the bag before the runner got there.
soxfan420
with valentine batting .050 in the minors i say leave him there for awhile.

Harris can play 2b and cf, Valentin can play ss and 3b and Uribe can play 2b and ss. Consistency in the lineup is one thing this team lacked during Manuel's tenure here and majorly cost us! That would lead to the Manualization of this team. I like that Ozzie isn't a "tinkerer" and sticks to his guns. Valentin doesn't deserve to be up here until he can prove he's worth sending someone else down.

Heather.. please don't confuse a horseshoe wedged up ones ass for a couple weeks as an indication that they are better than someone who's proved their worth. Royce Clayton..? Kenny Lofton..? Jiminez....? Willie Harris and Juan.. our best 6-4 combo in years... Pass the pipe sweetie.
FlaSoxxJim
Gotta side with the small crew that values Jose's contributions and realizes he needs regular playing time and we need his left-handed bat in the lineup. I don't think Jose and Uribe had a problem sharing time at SS depending on who had the best matchup before Jose went on DL, and I think that's the reasonable situatioj to return to. That's not in any way to belittle what Uribe has done for us - I'm loving it. But Jose is a proven and consistent comodity(sp?). in the field and at the plate. Wong & Owens
Yes, and then Valentin will magically swoop in and resume his 915 OPS-hitting (950 OPS with RISP) and league-leading range-y ways. Jose's career average OPS is only.776 however. On a team lacking power sources, then Jose would be in the lineup no doubt, but, on team lacking singles hitters, we need Willie, assuming his OBP keepins climbing.
