Rex Hudler
Jim Bullard. 1.1 innings 0 Hits 0 runs 2 SO!!! Wyatt Allen 1 inning 1 Hit 0 runs 3 SO!! Very good performaces for both guys.. BTW, Young didn't K in todays game but had 2 walks?! Nicely done for him. Wyatt Allen issued two walks to go with the one hit, so his inning wasn't that good. Yeah, he struck out the side, but he did it while walking a tightrope.

BTW, Young didn't K in todays game but had 2 walks?! Nicely done for him. Well, Allen did give up a hit as well as walk 2 in his inning, so despite K'ing all 3 outs, he did let bases get loaded. I am pleased to see the 3 K's maybe he can start throwing hard now that he is in the pen, he still needs command, very much of a long shot. MnSoxFan
Purvis pitches Hogs by Keys Casey Rogowski belted two two-run homers, and Andy Gonzalez added a grand slam yesterday to power the Winston-Salem Warthogs to a 12-3 victory over the Frederick Keys and a sweep of a four-game Carolina League series. Starter Rob Purvis (2-3) went 51/3 innings and allowed one earned run for the win, and Paulino Reynoso pitched the final three innings for his first save. The Warthogs - with 12 home runs in their past six games - finished the trip with a 5-2 record, and the four-game winning streak is their longest this season. Winston-Salem gave Purvis a 3-0 cushion in the first inning. Ryan Sweeney and Brian Anderson had RBI singles, and Gonzalez, who walked, scored when center fielder B.J. Littleton threw the ball into the dugout on Sweeney's single. Rogowski made the score 5-0 with a two-run homer in the fifth inning, then added another two-run shot in a seven-run eighth. Gonzalez also had his grand slam in the eighth, when the Warthogs batted around and scored seven runs on six hits. The Warthogs finished with a season-high 16 hits, including four by Anderson, and handed the Keys their seventh straight loss. The Warthogs will return home and start a six-game homestand today at 7 p.m. with a game against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Left-hander Byeong Hak An will start for the Warthogs. The Blue Rocks have not announced their starting pitcher.
MnSoxFan
Barons get solid pitching in win Friday, May 07, 2004 ARTHUR MACK For The Birmingham News MOBILE - After losing three out of four to the Chattanooga Lookouts earlier in the week, the Birmingham Barons were due for a breakout game with their bats. Thursday night against the Mobile BayBears in the first game of a four-game series, they got it. Nate Murphy's 2-for-4, three-RBI performance paced the Barons to a 7-1 victory over Mobile in Southern League action in front of 1,809 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium. Aaron McNeal tacked on two more RBIs with a 2-for-4 performance and Ruddy Yan went 3-for-4. Birmingham improved to 14-12, and moved into a half-game lead in the Southern League West Division. The Barons used four pitchers, with Dennis Ulacia getting the win. Ulacia, the starting pitcher, went 5Ҡinnings, allowing one run and four hits while striking out six and walking three. In all, Birmingham pitchers struck out 14 BayBear batters. Duncan McAdoo took the loss for Mobile, lasting only 31/3 innings and giving up all seven runs and nine hits. Game two is tonight at 7:05. "We played well tonight," said Birmingham manager Razor Shines. "The starting pitching was the key. Dennis, with his command, helped us. He located the ball well, and when we got the lead, he was able to locate the ball toward the middle of the plate." Birmingham wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, thanks to a four-run first inning. Yan and Mike Spidale started things off with back-to-back singles. Michael Morse walked to load the bases, and McNeal's bases-loaded single scored Yan and Spidale to make it 2-0. Morse scored on Murphy's double later in the inning, and McNeal scored on Rob Sasser's grounder to make it 4-0. "The four runs we got in the first inning gave us a big start," Shines said. "When you get a big lead like that, it deflates your opponent. But it's still early in the season to look at where you are in the standings." Murphy's two-run homer in the top of the third - a shot over the 400-foot wall - swelled the Barons' lead to 6-0. They added another run in the top of the fourth when Darren Blakely scored from second on Yan's single. Mobile's lone run came in the the sixth inning on Jake Gautreau's solo homer - his fourth of the year. The BayBears threatened again in the bottom of the eighth with one out and the bases loaded, but reliever Wyatt Allen got out of the jam by striking out Ben Johnson and Nick Trzesniak. MnSoxFan
Intimidators Drop High Scoring Affair To Captains 11-9 (Kannapolis, NC) – Micah Schilling drove in Luis Cotto in the top of the ninth inning for the game winning run leading the Captains over the Intimidators Thursday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis. Early on, the scoring was fast and furious. In the first inning, Lake County tagged Kannapolis starter for four runs including a three run blast by Ryan Mulhern. The Intimidators (13-13) did not trail for long tying the game and then taking the lead in the bottom half of the frame. The home team took advantage of two walks in the inning by Captains starter Sean Smith who did not make it out of the inning. Kannapolis had five hits in the inning including four runs in-a-row, to go ahead 5-4. The Captains (13-14) scored four runs in the second inning and benefited from a second, three run shot this time by Kevin Kouzmanoff to retake the lead, 8-5. Again the Intimidators responded, though not as successful as the first come-back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second trailing, 8-7. The visitors added a run in the top of the third to go out in front, 9-7. In the fifth inning, Clint King scored from third on a wild pitch before Chris Young scored form second base on Antoin Gray’s single tying the game, 9-9. Middle relief was solid for both clubs. Todd Deininger allowed one run in three and two-third innings and Fabio Castro tossed two and one-third scoreless innings for Kannapolis. The losing pitcher was Ehren Wasserman (1-2) who gave up the final two runs in the ninth inning. Kevin Martin (1-3) took the win and Chip Sutherland earned the save (4). ChiSox_Sonix
ya i dont think we should worry at all about Sweeney's slow start. Look at Rogowski and Schnurstein last year. They had some high expectations and didnt really produce. And i notice that now both of them are hiting the ball pretty well. Just felt like adding that
