Danny Wright

It's time to send Wright into the bullpen.

His only chance to make it in the majors is as a closer or set up man. That was he can get by on two pitches.

Lots of solid closers were failed starters -- Foulke, Gagne, Eckersley, Hawkins.

Not saying he can be as good as ANY of those guys.

But he's got NO future as a starter in the big leagues.

Eckersley was actually a pretty damn good starter early in his career. He had a 20 win season and 8 out of his 11 years as a starter he had an ERA of under 4 with three of those years being under a 3.00 ERA.

yeah i say they work on him as a closer and if he looks good, try him up here in boch's place... couldnt be worse could he?

Stop calling him boch, Koch has been doing his job so far. And i dont wanna hear on how he barely gets the save, he did this in Toronto and in Oakland and saved 144 games int those four years.

Re: Danny Wright, is it true that KW and Wright himself wanted him to be placed in a relief role?

And that Guillen insisted he be a starter?

I read that on some lame internet site, was wondering if anyone else heard this or whether it was the usual made up nonsense.

I recall seeing quotes from Wright saying he wanted to be a starter in '04.

Koch has not done his job. His job is to get a 1-2-3 inning more often then not, and NOT make it close EVERY time. True, he has only blown a save or two this year, and he has 5 saves, and his K/9 is right around 9, which is a solid number, but his 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, K/BB of less then 2, while giving up 2 homers in 13.3 innings are less then stellar...in fact, they are less then mediocre. For $6 mill, those numbers should be 2.25 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, K/BB of 4 or 5, with 1 homer in 17 innings while having 10 saves. He can't friggin touch those numbers.

As a very good comparison, let's bring up Armando Benetiz, who is closing for the Marlins. They signed him for $3 mill. He has 11 saves(and I believe has only blown 1, though that could be incorrect), has a sickening ERA of 0.48, and WHIP of 1.07, a K/BB of 3.4, a K/9 of right around 8.5 or so while having allowed 1 homer. Opponents have hit .224 off of him. And, once again, he is doing that for HALF of what Botch is making.
