Whitewashed in '05
I don't want much, just the 2004 edition of I would kill for that...except for the playoff part.
hammerhead johnson
Oh, you are wondering when we had a solid 5 starters. Before my time, ask CW, it's a history question Jack McDowell Alex Fernandez Wilson Alvarez Jason Bere and.... Kirk McCaskill Solid!
elrockinMT
The KW spin on things...Can't wait til we are freed of this guy as our GM...That'd be about the only good thing that would come out of us not winning the division this year...losing KW Aboz, I am not sure this is the issue on which to bash KW. I have seen that in most evaluations that Kenny does concerning youngsters he does a good job. The Marte trade, picking up Gload and Uribe and some others. He seems to fall flat on his face when going after what we would assume is major league experienced talent. The Todd Ritchie trade, trading Foulke for Koch and some others I am sure I am missing. Maybe his analysis of Diaz is right on and we will have a fellow who can be a success in the #5 spot. One can only hope. I will have to keep tuned to MLB Game Day and Soxtalk on Thursday afternoon. WSox30
When we trade for Koch, he was coming off a season in which he was named Rolaids Reliever of the Year...so what's wrong with that? Also, don't bash KW. He has done some great things for this organization and has always made trades to improve the ballclub. His additions this year are the reason we are in first place, and we have depth in the line up to the point where we are arguing who should be playing. I personally love KW and think he has done some great things to further our run at a title and the evidence shows with the additions that we have made. I don't hate KW and don't want to bash him, much anyway. However, the Koch trade was a gamble and we were warned about Billy and his 9th inning routine. I always liked Foulke and the idea we couldn't resign him went out the window in my opinion when we signed Koch to a $6.75M contract. However, Koch is heer Foulke is not so it is best not to dwell on what might have been. I hope that Billy Koch regains his closer form of a few years ago. I do think he is a real battler and gives it his all. I think Kenny has improved in the GM spot with age.
CWSGuy406
aboz, why all the hate for Kenny? Obviously he's made his share of bad moves (bad signings, bad trades, bad contracts), but he's also made his share of good moves.

Chisoxfn
Felix Diaz Called up to Chicago By Jason Gage May 12, 2004 FutureSox.com The ace of the Charlotte Knights pitching staff this season, Felix Diaz, will be promoted to Chicago tomorrow, where he will join the 5 man rotation. Diaz is slated to start one of the games in Thursday's doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles. Diaz, 22, was acquired by the Chicago White Sox along with Ryan Meaux in a trade which sent Kenny Lofton to the San Francisco Giants in 2002. Diaz spent last season in Charlotte, where he went 5-7 with a 3.97 ERA in 27 games (18 starts). Diaz has been fantastic this season going 5-0 with a 1.83 ERA in seven games (6 starts). In his 39.1 innings of work, he has given up 33 hits and just 5 walks, while striking out 32. Diaz features a plus fastball that can get as high as 94-95 MPH, but usually is around the 92-93 range. His fastball has good movement and is complimented with a good slider and changeup. To make room for Diaz, the White Sox are expected to demote catcher/infielder Jamie Burke back to Charlotte. Burke was promoted to Chicago when the Sox demoted then 5th starter Danny Wright.

I think a lot of GM's aren't goin to deal with Billy Beane for relivers again afta what happened to Koch. But Arthur Rhodes is havin big problems ova in Oakland at the moment, and there's even talk Chad Bradford could become the closer soon. YASNY
Jack McDowell Alex Fernandez Wilson Alvarez Jason Bere and.... Kirk McCaskill Solid! Good call .... my mind had already gone back to the days of Horlen, Peters, John, Pizarro, Buzhardt, etc to try and come up the answer to that question.
