redandwhite
And people wonder why there's a restriction of not letting people go down to the lower part of the stadium with UD tickets...A few sour grapes ruin it for everyone, what a shame... exactly... aboz56
Was anyone arrested? To me, if you just go up to someone and start to hit them and then run, it's basically the same thing as that idiot Ligue running onto the field. Granted, he was attacking someone who was a part of the game, but hell, what's the damn difference if people are allowed to just whale away on one another in the stands without being arrested. Cheat, I'd look into your options on this, as you don't deserve to take a beating without consequence on the people or persons responsible. If the person isn't found, that's when you make sure the Sox know exactly how you feel about this and the security idiot who didn't do anything is canned. Steff
I know that Steff, but are we really concerned about what happens elsewhere? Just because it's happening elsewhere doesn't mean that we should just let it go. No, it shouldn't be "let go". But your comment that it is fights that are keeping fans away is crazy when it happens (sometimes more often) everywhere.
redandwhite
I know that, money is definitely more important that people getting beat up at the games and that's a damn shame... the shame shouldn't be on the White Sox wanting to make money, it should be solely on the people who decide to participate in these acts. Gene Honda Civic
Yeah, the first guy that got in a few shots on you, took off running up the aisle between 159/160 and left his buddies with you. I don't even know what that guy's deal was -- He never said a word -- He stood up, tore my sunglasses off my head, ripped them apart, then I tried to go after him(my brother held me back) he hit me a few times, Knocked me down, and then took of running
Guest JimH
I have seats in the bleachers, 4th row, and I tell ya, the crowd is getting worse and worse out there. We have really noticed a change for the worse since we got the tickets in 2000. I only have weekends, so I'm not down there on the 1/2 price nights. But some of the Sat. crowds really cross the line into unbearable behavior. Not just drunks either. Parents with kids who let their kids run wild, throw stuff - and if you get hit with any of the s*** the kids throw, the response is, "c'mon, he/she is just a child". Some of the parents think the rest of the crowd should babysit their kids. Sorry, no. Everyone should have equal chance to enjoy the game, and ushers/security need to do a better job of making sure that happens ... because people will be people. As much as I love the lower deck, all these problems are a big reason why I've been pushing the Sox to have a weekend plan in the 300 level. Things are a little more contained there with less seats and access is a bit more restricted.
WSox30
Sorry that happened to you Cheat. Hope you still go to the park to support the team. Those bastards shouldn't ruin your enjoyment of watching the Sox live. Now to the topic, that usher should be fired. Any usher that acts as if he does not want to do anything about it should not be an usher and therefore FIRED. Those two guys should be locked up and fined heavily. That is a public place that they created danger for many fans around them. And as it said in another post, I hope this didnt get blown up in the trib today considering the shooting was barely talked about.

You are by far the better man, and I hope you can rest easy knowing that.
Queen Prawn
It's not just at 'The Cell.' I've encountered problems at hockey games in Peoria and at the Wolves games. Thankfully, it's few and far between, but it is ALWAYS the same type - people who drank way too much and don't know when to shut up.
Y2HH
Stopping beer sales is NOT the answer. I drink beer throughout entire games and I never have a problem with jumping on people, or starting fights. The answer is not beer sales, or food sales, or any other excuse people may come up with the for stupidity and ignorance. Simple fact it this, this should be followed up with the law, and a message needs to be sent that if you come to the ballpark to start problems, your going to leave with far more problems than you started with. First, a night in jail isnt enough. They should be prosecuted for agg. assault, drunken disorderly, destruction of property, etc...lay EVERY single fine on them that you can. You should have followed up with security and pressed charges on this (unless you did, and I hope you did), because you ARE allowed to know who they are and what jail they are being sent too (by law), so you can press charges and fill out police reports. These fools needs to pay. Or we can use the old method called eye for an eye. If a few "frat boys" decide they want to cause problems, how about the entire audience help out the guy(s) they are causing problems with...a nice global beatdown of the fools is a good idea...they can't prosecute an entire outfield of fans. If the park won't make them pay, then the fans should...together. I think they'll learn their stupid lession after one beatdown like that. -y2
Gene Honda Civic
Since when is section 159 in the upper deck? There was one incedent early in the game in 161 -- a guy got a beer dumped over his head and then started swinging (he was mouthing off about the cubs supposedly) Security was already there when the beer was poured on him and I think both parties were escorted out of the game -- Then there was a couple in Right field (low 100's) -- And a ton a verbal sparring in Right field bleachers
aboz56
Yea I don't understand that, if you're sitting there watching someone take a beating, why don't you get up and at least try to do something? I am one of the least violent people on this planet, but if someone is taking a beating, I'll step in.

BrandoFan
Whoa. What you should have done is punch the f*** out of the guy who broke your glasses and run the f*** out before the drunken dinks had a chance to jump on you.

I can't agree with the last paragraph. Not that on occasion I wouldn't like to see it done ... it just won't happen though. Your comments about making an example of these goofs is excellent though. If word gets around that security is gonna be really tough on trouble makers, and they get prosecuted big-time, word will get around. Similar to drunk driving, it still happens but people have a clear understanding of consequences.

southsideirish
So 5 guys on just one? Yeah they are pussies no doubt. Glad to see your ok the Cheat. I will tell you what happens and why security will not remove them sometimes. They pay off the security. They will be the cheapest tickets in the park and then around the 3rd inning go down and pay a security person for better seats. They will go up and offer him 10 bucks to find them available seats. When the stadium is more full than usual this happens a lot.
FlaSoxxJim
Glad to hear you're ok, Cheat, but what unbelievable bulls***. That usher should be canned and security should have been in on it even if the usher didn't bring it to their attention. If other posters, players, etc. here had a clear view of what was going on, security somewhere in the park was certainly also aware of it. Y2HH
What I'd like to know is how it was 5 on 1? First, The Cheat never makes apperances without Strong Bad and his best friend Strong Mad...why weren't they with you? Strong Mad would have laid some smack down and Strong Bad would have put the boxing gloves to good use. I was in the outfield (1st row) about 2 sections over from this lame fight, which I assumed was one of MANY fights in the outfield, as it seemed the crowd was standing at times when there was no reason to stand (signifying a fight). Last night must have been stupid night...first 10k fans to join a frat and drink a beer get a free stupid certificate. I'm sorry this happened to you, Cheat...next time just get up and move to other seats (there are always plenty available), it's the easiest way to avoid idiots like that. -y2 -y2
Chisoxfn
Wow, after reading this all I can say is wow. Cheat, I hope your alright. What happened to you was pure bulls***. I didn't catch the game on TV, but I can't believe the stadium security was that half assed. I also can't believe how wussy those 5 guys were for jumping you. 5 freaking guys on 1 and you didn't even do crap other then ask them to be quiet. I realize this happens in other stadiums, but that doesn't make it right. This is pure bs and I hope the White Sox listen to your letter cause its these type of things that have to stop. Your a freaking diehard Sox fan who goes to games and supports the Sox, I can't freaking believe it. What garbage those fans were and I'd say that usher is even as big of garbage for not doing anything about it. Glad Hangar at least got security over, but WOW is all I can still say. I'm speechless after reading this story. Just glad to see your ok.
Scwible
Sorry to hear that you were one of those people who were in the fights man. It was frigin ridiculous yesterday there, everytime i would look up something was going on in the stands. I beleive i saw the fight with you in it, i was in section 161 and yes i was one of those dopes standing on the bleachers looking around. I saw some guy running up the stairs, forget which inning it was but he got hit in the back of the head as he was going up the stairs. Last nigth was by far the most fights I've seen in a while. It felt like a riot out there at time actually. Hope your OK dood and DO write that letter to the white sox about this BS because it's so unacceptable. Old Socks
Take a weapon next time. Anthing. Mace, pepper spray, whatever works. I used to think the crime was outside the park after the game. It makes me want to pull a Larry Goetz.
Texsox
Remember the first and most important rule of stadium fights. 1. Never fight "up hill" at the least get on the same level. After that and before hitting the guy, yell "f***ing 'fill in away team name here' fan" I had awesome Bulls seats in the old stadium until people actually started paying to stand. Once it got really crowed the last .1% of the fans are ass holes and they start showing up.
Wong & Owens
It appears that U.S. Cellular is the closest thing you'll find in America to a European football crowd. Brooks Boyer should be marketing this to Scottish emigres residing in Chi-Town. All kidding aside, hope you OK Cheat. Me smellum lawsuit?
