CubKilla
Sheeeeee-it, I have hanging on my wall a very expensive framing job containing Royce's autograph and pictures of him to remember the night and the game where I met him and I was Royce's biggest fan, ask anyone who sat near me Make sure you keep that Vince. While it may be absolute s*** right now, considering you are probably the only guy who ever asked Klayton for an autographed pic in a White Sox uni, it will be worth a mint in about 100 years. Your great-great-great grandson will be able to make a killing on it when a White Sox collector finds out that the Klayton signature on a baseball-related item is a one-of-a-kind..... the only one known in existence

When I asked Clayton for his autograph he was stunned and I am sure that I am only person ever who asked him for his autograph in a Sox uni! Mathew
Poor Royce. His contract didn't make him that poor He's gotten so much flack for his performance while he was with the Sox, and it's really unfortunate, unfortunate he was with the Sox IMO. His average in 2 years with the Sox was .260, with 16 HR and 90 RBI (in the #9 hole, keep in mind)In the nine hole where he was piped fastballs because he is an easy out, or in May June an automatic out. He had a fielding percentage of almost 99%, the Comiskey score keeper is and was a boob and saved many runs with plays that shortstops before him wouldn't have made (like Mike Caruso, ugh)Caruso sucks and so does a SS who throws very weakly and doesn't like to move more than 2 feet for a ball, Clayton doesn't make plays that really good SS's do and didn't win us games on D. Sure, he struck out a bit much ummm. yeah(135 in those 2 seasons), but he wasn't nearly as bad as some people make him sound. Compare his K's (in 2001 and 2002 combined) to Magglio (147), Frank (127 in a little more than 1 season), Paulie (161), and Carlos (158).why they are good hitters, who his for more power and average Hell, Ray struck out almost that much every year. Sure, Royce was no A-Rod or Jeter (or even Tejada or Nomar understatement of the century, but he did what he was brought in for -- to solidify us defensively up the middle. I hoped he wouldn't screw player's ex's and might wear cleats in the dugout possibly hit more that .91 for the first month, but maybe we have a different understanding of what he was brought in for. The Sox did poorly in 2001 and 2002, but it wasn't because of Royce Clayton he certainly contributed, as much as some of you would like to make him the scapegoat. you started this thread and this s***(oh I swore does that make me stupid? I didn't ever hear anyone say that Royce was the reason we lost 81 games last year, but he didn't make us better in hindsight, at least you Clayton boys can admit that? Jim Fainter
Although I am sometimes frustrated by Sox players when we don't win, I still have always supported them and pulled for them, even Clayton. It has to do with the uniform they are wearing. I have to admit though, that in 2001, when Clayton was really struggling at the plate ( his average actually dropped below .100 for part of a game) , I had a combination of feelings when a bunch of Sox fans behind our dugout held up sarcastic signs "Clayton-MVP." In a sadistic way it was humorous, but I did feel sorry for him. After that he stated to hit a little bit. Things did not improve much for him in 2002. CubKilla
since this thread will never die, get your Royce Clayton stuff here to feed your Royce jones! Since no one is going to buy that garbage and considering you could corner the market on Choice junk, you should low ball them and make them take what they could get from you. If you don't, they'll just have to, eventually, give it away

Chisoxfn
and I can't wait to see to see the look on your face when you open your present from me next Christmas morning! Judging from the looks of it, you aught to make yourself an "I Hate Royce T-Shirt" and sell it outside of comiskey park. I bet you'd make a ton of money. Then have aquote shirt and use Royce's famous sayings such as I'm going to help lead the Brewers to the series or whatever it was he said. I think it was something like "I'm not going to lead us to a World Series. But I'll break my back trying." And while you're at it....make some KW quote shirts...."You can't spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents" and many other timeless quotes. CW....you'd be a millionaire! cwsox
not a bad idea - when I am rich, I will remember all my friends - catered tailgates, how about it, and watching the games from a skybox - one with a hot tub and a cabana boy for HSC - it'll work! You'd be able to hook me up a plane ticket and we could watch the Sox....maybe rent a hot tub and we could soak while watching the Sox kick the crap out of the opposition(hopefully). Or better yet....you could buy the naming rights to the stadium back...hell, you could call it Royce Stadium if you wanted to...that is, if you wouldn't mind being castrated by the diehards of Chicago that aren't your friends

We didn't need anymore Baggs Seriously though..... why do all the Choice backers think the Choice bashers blame Choice for the Sox's poor showing in 2001 and 2002? I don't get how me saying that K-layton sucked donkey balls can be translated into K-layton is the reason why the White Sox didn't repeat 2000's success. K-layton sucked. PERIOD. So he had a 90-something fielding percentage. Too bad he had a range of 2 to 3 steps in either direction at SS. If that was the range exhibited by an ARod, Nomar, or..... dare I say it..... a Valentin, their fielding percentages would probably be between 98-100% too. greg775
I love all posts on this board, but I wish we could forget Royce and let him go rot on his new team. This guy sucked, pure and simple. Nothing about Royce was good, except the fact he fielded well. I will give him that. His .005 batting average in April and May two seasons ago did us in. SI1020
This reminds me of the Kordell Stewart thing in Pittsburgh. Some guys are lightning rods and I guess good old Royce is one of them. I will be watching to see how he and Ritchie do in Milwaukee. I suspect they're both gonna stink.

I KNOW THEY'RE BOTH GOING TO STINK..... although, I suspect, Todd Ritchie's numbers will be better than they were in 2002 simply because they can't really get much worse. He'll still suck though.
