NUKE_CLEVELAND
if not a complete game shutout You know, I hate being cynical like that but it seems like it happens every freekin time. Some scrub goes against us or some dude in his MLB debut & he owns us like a bunch of b****es. That's frustrating.
elrockinMT
The Tribe pitcher Durbin comes into tonights game with an ERA over 11 runs a game. We need to score more than 3 or 4 off him especially in light of the fact so many of our hitters have done very well off him. But, the history of these hitters has been less than encouraging. I am fed up with listening to their comments after they get shut out by some scrub who couldn't carry the jock strap of people like Wilbur Wood, Joel Horlen, Gary Peters. et al, My sense is that if the hitters don't produce tonight we may see the trigger pulled on a trade. aboz56
I never, never understnad why when a pitcher makes his major league debuet againt us, its Cy young caliber. But when we send out a pitcher for his major leauge debuet, he gets ROCKED. Now i know someone will say "thats cause we have no talent" but those guys that look like cy young against us usually get rocked the next game by some other team. I just dont understand it. Lot of the guys don't work the counts. There should be certain guys who are required to take a strike before they even swing the bat on this team. When you have a young guy, you make him throw strikes and try to make him throw a lot of pitches early on and wait for him to tire. At that point, you then tee off on him. May be easier said than done, but it's what I would do.
FlaSoxxJim
A bit from Cowley's Southtown submission today says it all. If this team can't knock Durbin around then we've really got problems. If the Sox bats can't produce against Cleveland starter Chad Durbin tonight, then something really is wrong. Five current players are hitting .375 or better against Durbin in their careers, beginning with Magglio Ordonez (.800, 12-for-15 with three home runs and 10 RBI). Sandy Alomar is hitting .667 (2-for-3), followed by Paul Konerko (.467, 7-for-15), Jose Valentin (.412, 7-for-17) and Frank Thomas (.375, 3-for-8). ... The Sox entered Monday hitting .373 with 32 runs scored in their last three wins, while they hit just .193 with 11 runs scored in their last six losses. DonkeyKongerko
The Sox aren't due to score any runs today, I mean Buehrle doesn't start again til Friday.
Harry Chappas
The post on not taking pitches hits it right on the head. How many times do we get a guy 0-2 and they work the count by fouling off good pitches or laying off bad ones. Rowand last eve was 0-2 and swung at a ball 1 foot outside and at the letters. We do not fight off (foul) good pitches nor do we let bad pitches go by. Diaz was pitching on three days rest the key to the Tribe was to make him throw a a-lot of pitches and get to the pen early. Int eh same vain the Sox philiosophy swing at everything. Saturday night Seth Gesinger threw 64 through 6 innings.
gsoxs1
The Sox will win tonight. The sox have crushed Durbin in the past. Durbin is 1-4 with a 9.56 ERA in seven career starts against the White Sox.

He won once, so he has obviously pitched well enough to win against us before. The only way I would feel a little safer is if he was 0-8 10.00 against us or so. Mike Mussina was something like 18-2 in his career going into the ALDS last year against the Twins. All they did was beat him. You can NEVER be sure, ESPECIALLY with this group. They get too agressive, and they are f***ed.
