Wong & Owens
Chicago White Sox: Carlos Lee- OF Jose Valentine- SS Joe Borchard- OF Toronto Blue Jays: Frank Catalonotto- OF Ted Lilly- SP Chris Gomez- SS I don't think Toronto would have interest in these guys. They are stocked in the outfield, both at the major and minor league levels. Picking up Lilly and Catalanotto are good ideas, but we have no use for Chris Gomez. Maybe a package of Adkins, Wunsch and Lee?
Butter Parque
I thought Gomez would be good as a utility player and we definitely need Catalonotto's left-handed bat.
JDsDirtySox
The key to making a trade happen this early is finding a team willing to admit that they are already out of it. As of now, I think only a few teams are to that point. Montreal, K.C.(who won't trade with us), Pittsburgh, Colorado, Seattle and Tampa Bay. Other teams like the Giants, Diamondbacks, Brewers, etc. I think we will have to wait on. A deal I would like to see happen: Sox and Montreal. White Sox get: Livan Hernandez Nick Johnson (currently on the DL) Expos get: Paul Konerko Joe Borchard Jon Rauch Ryan Meaux Hernandez just recently signed a 3 year 21 million dollar deal, but I would have no problems taking that on. This would give us a good starter with big game experience, and a left handed bat to plug in at first.
Butter Parque
not a bad move but Nick Johnson still isn't close to getting back and he just is too injury prone.

JDsDirtySox
Speak for yourself. I am speaking for myself... but tell me why this would be a bad idea. Livan Hernandez is a very good pitcher, and he is a workhorse. He is a guy you can count on every time he takes the mound. I would have no problems paying him the money, but thats just me. Lets also remember he is only 29 years old too.

Well, he's probably not 29, his true age hasn't yet been discovered. If we are going to pay that money for a starter, there are other guys I feel we can get for at or around the same money who are better than Livan. Why take on a contract that goes beyond this year when we are about to clear 25 million off the payroll this offseason with the losses of Mags, Valentin and Koch? For that same money and probably about the same deal of prospects, we could get Freddy Garcia, who is a proven AL commodity and has an expiring contract. He's been a NL pitcher all of his career, so what's to say he'll be successful in the AL? Everyone likes to speak of his success in the World Series, but that was a long time ago. Just playing Devil's Advocate here, nothing personal JD.

flippedoutpunk
If that trade were to happen i think we would have to throw in a good pitcher to make up for Torontos loss of Ted Lilly.
aboz56
Toronto would not do this. Period. I don't see why we would either...No reason to get Lilly and I wouldn't give up Lee or Borchard to get any of those guys.
Cerbaho-WG
Carlos Lee will probably never play in Toronto as long as Ricciardi is the GM there. C Lee is still too damn raw and doesn't put up great OBP or OPS numbers. Would I make this trade? God no.
Chisoxfn
The bigger picture is Toronto wouldn't take on these type of contracts, imo. However, I do think Lilly is the type of pitcher that could be a decent fit.

KC tried all leftys and look at them.

Guest JimH
If KW can't pull something off this week for a #5, here's what I would do. I'd promote Rauch for the #5 turn this weekend vs. the Twins. Two reasons: 1. Diaz has taken a beating and I bet his confidence has too 2. Rauch handcuffed the Twins before, he's pitching ok at Charlotte and sooner or later they need to find out - definitively - what they've got in this guy. I am not a huge Rauch fan because I think there are some intangibles missing with Jon, but hey, he baffled the Twins before so why not. But Rauch is out of options, so if he is put up on the roster then it has to be a permanent move. I think thats why the Sox aren't even thinking about him right now. They want him to be blowing hitters away before they even give him a chance.

He should have confidence against a team he has performed well against before. I would like to see what we have in him as well as I am also not a big fan of his. Guest JimH
Jason, I think the option thing is good for the whole year, and this is the last option year for Rauch. Didn't Rex clear all that up for us, a while back? At least that's what I thought I read.
