KipWellsFan
You guys talk about how thousands of people died in 9/11 well this is true and it was a terrible tragedy and I feel terrible for friends and family of the victims. But what many people take a blind eye to is that tens upon thousands of people all over the world die every day due to hunger. Why cant america spend money on these types of problems instead of "Star Wars" and all those other crazy weapons systems. I am by no means an expert on war or politics but I know the US could spend more money on these types of things. PS U.S. has one of the highest child poverty rates in the world. Im Canadian by the way. All replies and opinions welcome.

Maybe, just perhaps, these people wouldnt be in such horrible shape if they didnt spend so much time whining about how they hate America and if they spent a little more time improving their minds and teaching their future generations. I dont care that people are suffering in the Middle East and such places. If they werent so full of hatred towards others they wouldnt be so poor. These people think the West is responsible for their problems and thats their problem. They take no responsibility for anything. Its their own fault. When theyre in the ditch they call for America to help them and when we help them out they use the strength we gave them to punch us in the gut... I'm sure most that die of hunger because of not enough money brought it on themselves. I also don't see how the hatred of the West and that causing them to be poor have anything to do with each other. That has got to be the worst post this year, in my opinion, on all of this Mid-East crap.

True, hatred does kill, but I think you are making a gross over-generalization that all countries where people are dropping like fleas because of hunger is because of their hate of the civilized West. Soxplosion
But its in most of these countries. And the last couple of times we went to other countries to provide support against tyranny, it came back to bite us in the rear. We supplied weapons to Iraq and Afghanistan and they both used them against us. Then we sent troops to Somalia to get peace and 18 American soldiers died because of it. Im not up for intervening in anymore of these countries affairs. But that doesnt mean Im not for war in Iraq. Iraq poses a threat, perhaps a minimal one but still a threat. Somalia and Afghanistan posed no threat. So, we should be defensive, not offensive.

Why cant america spend money on these types of problems instead of "Star Wars" and all those other crazy weapons systems. The US military went into Somalia and Mogadishu during the first George Bush's presidency to supply food and aid to the sick and starving people of those countries only to be attacked by guerilla's of various regimes in those countries..... some of the regime's henchmen were even trained by Al Queda. Some will claim that the US had alterior motives (overthrowing a given countries govt.), but they cannot deny the fact that the US delivered food to the starving and impoverished of those countries only to be turned on by those that the US was trying to help. Fact of the matter is, the US helps more foreign countries during times of natural catastrophes, crisis, famine, technical disasters, etc. than any other country in the world..... and that's a fact. KipWellsFan
True the US does give millions of dollars to support other countries and they actually give more money than any other country. They lead in total amount but they are by no means spending as high a percentage of their money on supporting poor countries as well as their own citizens as other countries do. I have trouble explaining that, sorry. In my opinion the US spends way too much money on foolish things. Bush and his I guess advisors dont seem to see the big picture. I think oldroman you called me a commie that could be no farther from the truth. What I believe is that every person deserves the CHANCE to live out their dream. Enjoy their lives and be who they really are and and stay true to their beliefs. And I think America and many other countries could do a much better job at this. I don't think African' countries really hate us. The main reason they are dying is because they aren't as advanced as the western worlds because of how far they were pushed back from slavery. Still, thats all in the past, but its taking so long for those countries to become civilized and its even harderd consider the aids epediemic that they have to deal with. OldRoman, for I believe the 4th time, I am a DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST. It's just like the government in Sweden. Wait wait wait. You are condemning any sort of discourse about blind patriotism and you have the f***ing audacity to call me a thug? See, OldRoman. There was another group of people who were blinded by nationalism and thought they had the right to intervene in any other country and destablize them to meet their own political means. We called them the Nazis. You might want to start grooming one of those little mustaches, OldRoman.
KipWellsFan
Oldroman talks of how children from other countries are told by their parents to hate America. Well I think Oldroman and others like him have been influenced sort of in the same way. I could be wrong but I believe he and others like him have been told by numerous sources (propaghanda) of how the US is extremely generous and is always trying to help. Sure the US helps but it covers up some obvious faults of its support. All we have to do is read between the lines and see what many people miss. That's how we become intelligent voters and so on. Of course theres more than voting, thats just an example. I also dont think children in Ethiopia for example, are told by their parents to hate america. I bet most of the children dont even know what the US is. Because they dont have the money to educate themselves. So many problems in the WORLD

The people in foreign countries have been brainwashed to hate us. These people do nothing but hate us and that is why they are poor. It is wrong for them to hate us. But it is perfectly okay for him to hate those people whom he knows nothing about. So, OldRoman, how do you condemn foreigners for hating the US without adequate information when you hate them without adequate information?
