DBAHO
Could be our possible 5th starter if Cotts doesn't work out, ANAHEIM – For now, Chone Figgins figures to play third base in place of Troy Glaus, but a trade could be the long-term solution. Speculation in Chicago has the White Sox interested in trading Jose Valentin for Angels pitcher Aaron Sele. And Arizona's Shea Hillenbrand is considered likely be shopped when Richie Sexson returns from an injured left shoulder in 10 days or so. Hillenbrand has been playing first base, but he's a natural third baseman.
EvilJester99
I don't think I'd want Sele.... maybe Ortiz.
aboz56
Sele sucks, I'd rather keep Jose at SS, Uribe at 2B and Harris in CF than acquire this bum.
southsider2k5
Sele sucks, I'd rather keep Jose at SS, Uribe at 2B and Harris in CF than acquire this bum. Ditto. Sele is washed up and overpaid. Jose is worth way more than that.
aboz56
And by the way, let's see how Cotts does with starting before we make any trades for another pitcher, don't jump the gun KW. BTW, we'd be a lot better around here if we had the guy on the right making decisions for this team...

beck72
If Jose is traded--to Ana. or anywhere else--look for Carlos Beltran to be wearing a Sox uniform. The only way Jose is traded away is to replace his LH power with LH power. Sele or Ortiz + ____ is more likely for Jose. Don't count out Sea. as well for Jose. I believe Jose will be traded though. Its the only way to get Harris and Uribe playing their best positions. It's unfair to ask Harris to kill himself in CF when he's payed great at 2B. Last night's fly to CF where Willie hit the wall was painful to watch, in more ways than one. That also means another RH hitter with a big salary like Lee or Konerko would be gone as well. Beltran's power, speed and .300 avg would more than make up for the loss of two of the 3 guys.
elrockinMT
Sele sucks, I'd rather keep Jose at SS, Uribe at 2B and Harris in CF than acquire this bum. The Angels must have read Billy Beane's book and how he thinks he fleeced Kenny. I just hope KW keeps his wits about him while he tries to make deals. We give up Jose V who is a spark plug and good left handed bat with power for a struggling possibe #5 starter? NO WAY!
Guest JimH
It doesn't make sense. If you have a team with playoff aspirations, you're going to put Juan Uribe in as your starting SS? I'm no huge Valentin fan, but Uribe has been around for 6 weeks now and people are ready to annoint him the starting SS job on a supposed pennant contender? To that I say "whoa". As for this Beltran stuff, the only way the Sox would get Beltran is IF they think they can win the World Series in 2004. His agent is Boras. He is a free agent after this year. It is extremely unlikely ... no, make that practically impossible he would sign a long term deal here. And why would the Sox want to sign Beltran to a long term deal when they've got a couple of hot CF prospects rapidly climbing up the ladder? Trading Valentin and then trading prospects or whatever for Beltran is creating one hole to fix another. Uribe has a history of hot stretches and then huge funks. One reason why he's playing so well here is the Latin influence, I'd imagine Valentin is a part of that. If anyone gets traded, it will be one of the RH hitters. KW has been saying all along the team is too RH heavy, and with Konerko, Lee, Crede struggling it exposes things. I highly doubt he'd trade the one left handed threat who just happens to be the veteran anchor of the infield ... unless he can refill the SS hole AND add a starter. I don't see Valentin going anywhere until after this season, if then.

If you are talking by the deadline that's crazy because KC will not trade him to a division rival. Not only that, the White Sox won't sign him wether Lee, PK, Koch, or Valentin leave or not, he wants arod money and his agent is Scott Boras, I highly doubt the sox want to pay him that much and deal with Boras. The only chances of Beltran being signed by the sox next season is if we go deep ino the playoffs and JR is willing to open that wallet. Spiff
Yeah, we don't need a shmuck who is 2-0 with a 2.97 ERA. Our #5 is way better than that.

southsider2k5
Kinda thinking the same thing. I was more looking at the fact that he has had an era under 4.51 TWICE in the last 10 years, including 5.77 and 4.89 in the last two years. I tend to go with the 10 year sample size, vs the 6 week one.

No need for him, he'll implode I know he sucks in the playoffs, but I thought he's been fairly solid in the regular season and as stated by Spiff, it's better than what we currently have in the 5th slot of the rotation.
