hammerhead johnson
He talked about how he reads WSI or whatever. I also remember hearing about Bob Costas doing a segment on his HBO show about Red Sox fansites. I'm just wondering if SOXTALK has received any publicity on the same level as WSI, because this is one hell of a site. I checked out WSI mostly to see what people were saying about Cheat's situation (the brawl). It appears to be a good site, but it doesn't approach this one as far as I'm concerned. If this topic is inappropriate for this forum, feel free to move it.
redandwhite
SOSH has gotten alot of recognition via the media, and it's not even that SOSH is better than Soxtalk, it's that players/owners/people associated with the team are frequently posting. Curt Schilling for instance is an avid poster.

Although he did ONCE say something to the effect of, "Soxtalk and Whitesoxinteractive are there for all White Sox fans looking to talk to one another." That was in mid June when I heard that; it was the first time I knew either site existed. After browsing both I decided I liked this format better and registered as a member a month later. Far as publicity, there remains ways you can plug the site. Possibly the easiest is to call into a "Talking Baseball segment" on ESPN1000 and mention Soxtalk sometime during your message. I'd recommend name dropping this site on The Score, except there remains a risk of all large contingent of drillroads trolling this site because of the plug. Flash Tizzle
Perhaps he said "for sox talk goto WSI..."? Well, suppose that's a possibility.....if he did use those words in that context it was just plain luck that I decided to type in "soxtalk.com" and arrive at this site. Cerbaho-WG
Well, I know FutureSox.com has been on BaseballAmerica a few times. And a higher up knows about us.
Chisoxfn
Soxtalk gets more of its pub from its members calling in and giving shout outs. Although I know at least a few members of the media are familiar with the site. Back in its day SoxNet had some shout outs by the media. Jason, didn't you have a quote in like ESPN for the ranking of the franchises of the 4 major sports, and you mentioned something about having Uncle Jerry spend a little more on the Sox? Yep, I still have a few copies of that laying around . Hell, I completely forgot all about it, haha. I know thats when Steff stopped by the site for one of the first times. I happened to make one anti cub remark during my whole long talk with the guy who wrote the article and that was one of the things that went into my short quote. But ya, I said JR needs to get off his butt and open his wallet. About two weeks later Colon was acquired . If he made it to the series, I'd of expected to throw out of the 1st pitch

Soxbadger
Unless the media pays the people that run the site, why do we want the exposure? All it will do is probably bring us a bunch of Cubs trolls who start threads like: "Haha remember when you traded George Bell for Sammy Sosa" Personally this is the only White Sox forum I post at, and its mainly because for the most part it has some of the most knowledgable posters that I have seen. I guess it would be nice to be recognized for that, but I dont need a media outlet to tell me it. SB
Steff
While it might bring some trolls.. it also brings some good fans. And it brings attention to the Sox... A lot of Sox employees (some in important positions) read at WSI. Brooks made a comment via email to a poster there (who posted the email) that he's aware of WSI. IMO, it's a good place to get an idea of what the fans want, their concerns, their praise, etc, etc..

Soxbadger
In my eyes its a double edged sword. I know some relatives of coaches, employees, etc. But Ive never said "Oh you should go post at so and so" because part of me fears that they will see something about there family member and be unhappy. I mean they are real people too, and some posters say things off the cuff that can bother people. Not to mention, some of things people propose Im not so sure Id want to see the White Sox do. All I know is, I could care less if a million people read my ideas or 1 does, because its my idea. Im just looking for some other knowledgeable Sox fans who will discuss baseball, so I dont always have to listen to the Cubs fans Im constantly surrounded by. This is a great message board, I dont think we need Espn1000 to say that for it to be. But I understand that maybe we could get heard better if we were better known. Chisoxfn
I agree with Badger. I've said numerous times this site is great because of the posters that post here. Whether this site ever gets media love or not doesn't really concern me. The fact that every day more and more damn good Sox fans come here to join in discussions with some of the most knowledgeable Sox fans is good enough for me
Steff
If you must know beastly... from what I have seen from you in regards to your speaking style and outwardness and (see the transcripts from the Bullard chat) your plain ignorance towards others.. you would be the last person I would choose as ambassador to the media promoting SoxTalk. JMO though.

The fact that every day more and more damn good Sox fans come here to join in discussions with some of the most knowledgeable Sox fans is good enough for me I agree here, this site doesn't need publicity, I think it's for the most part well rounded with great conversation already. And in terms of WSI, I had some of my best White Sox conversation with one of their posters that Steff introduced me to at a recent tailgate so I've got nothing against that site either except for the fact that I think they overstep on their rules from time to time (ala Game Thread restrictions). I hear lots about Whitesox Interactive, I was an average poster there before I came here. I left behind 876 posts to come here Way worth it.
