So guys - I wanted you to know about a trade situation. The offer is Felix Diaz (Three blue stars, he's been solid for me thus far, four ERA) and Joe Crede (When he's hot, he is awesome. But when he slumps, he is downright terrible. Not a good OBP guy, but usually drives in some runs and hits homers) for Ben Sheets (3.5 Gold stars, would give me a shutdown righty in the rotation, as I traded Loaiza and some others for Mark Mulder.)

I dont think Crede would be a big loss, I have Mark Bellhorn who is a very good OBP guy, as well as hits some homers and RBIs, and Ben Sheets is two years older than Diaz but probably better than Diaz will ever be.

The only problem I see with it is that I'd then have to move Bellhorn from second to third, thus making Willie Harris a starter. But pitching wins in that game, so I think Im gonna do it, but I'd like some input.

For those who don't want to buy OOTP6 directly from their website, I've heard Sports Interactive is workin with some OOTP developers to bring out another OOTP game retail wise later this year.

I started a white sox dynasty the other day where I basically just play a GM role.

(That's the greatness of this game, if you wanna be a manager, you can manage each every game, if you just wanna deal with rosters/finances and be a GM, you can just sim)

Well in july, the sox were 10 games out so I went nuts.

Traded mags, shingo, loaiza, lee, rowand, koch, valentin, wunsch and basically anyone who was going to be released later that year. I got 2 stud pitching prospects from LA, M. Cabrera from florida (Traded mags for him straight up) along with a few decent position prospects.

My outfield now consists of Reed in left, borchard in center, and cabrera in right. Pretty studly. Honel's struggling right now in the rotation and the 2 prospects from LA play in AA for a bit. I'm looking to spend some big bucks in the offseason on some infielders and a few decent starts and I should have a decent team.

I dont know about giving up Crede, but if you can find a place for Diaz while acquiring Ben Sheets definitly do it.

I'm a little confused.

I read the description, and was wondering if you play the game and act as a gm/owner, or does it simulate games, and you just make all the decisions.

you can "play" games too, in sort of a ESPN Gamecast kind of way, where you will be asked for decisions such as intentional walk, substitutions on top of infield depth and other minor things like that.

When your outside of the game play, you act as the GM/Owner and do pretty much everything an owner or gm would do.

Both, that's the beauty.

You can "manage" the games if you want to. (calling hit and runs, steals, pinch hitting, pinch running)

or you can just sim weeks at a time and focus on the rosters.

:P Nope

2005 season: we finished 81-81, but have a strong promise.

Reed and Borchard both batted above .300 in their first full seasons.

and Edwin Jackson (that stud prospect SP) was called up in the middle of the season and finished with a sub 2 ERA. After the offseason he changed from a max blue star player to a max-.5 gold star player. All i had to trade for him was Shingo, E-lo, and koch too :) 2006 should be fun.

It's awesome - I traded Carlos Lee to Toronto, and somehow got two AWESOME pitching prospects. Dustin McGowen, the 22 year righty old starter, has talent ratings of 8 in stuff, 10 in movement, and 6 in control. Jamie Vermilyea, the 23 year old righty reliever, has awesome talent ratings - 8 in stuff, 10 in control, 8 in movement. Not to mention Honel on the farm, plus MY big three of Buerhle - Mulder (Traded for Loaiza and Shingo)-Sheets (Traded for Crede and Diaz).

I'm really excited about Borchard too, he's hitting 300+ for me and driving in some huge runs.

What is your lineup looking like right now, Soxnbears. I remember you mentioning how you basically gave away your whole team for prospects, It'd be interesting to hear who you got right now. Same with you, red. Here's mine:

C Olivo

1B Hatteberg (Oakland released Him, odd)/Konerko Platoon

2B Harris

3B Bellhorn

SS Uribe

LF Borchard

CF Dave Roberts (He's hitting 370 for me, already mid-June)

RF Mags

Rotation of Buerhle-Mulder-Sheets-Schoenwies-Garland. Bullpen includes Marte, Karsay (released by the Yanks), Cotts, Wunsch, Jackson, and closer of Danny Graves, who went from three stars when I traded for him to four stars, and currently leads the league in saves! :headbang

I'm pushing for the playoffs! The only negative is that Reed broke his hand and is out 9 weeks... :crying

Hmm, just curious, how are Burke and Danny Wright rated for you and how are they doing for you?

Wright = 2 star player, he's doing decent, 5th start material, around a 4 ERA

Burke = 1 star player, but played well last season, took olivo out of the starting role. I'll be looking to trade for a catcher soon.

I'm still thinkin bout gettin the game, mayb when the Aussie Dollar goes up a few more cents, so it won't cost so much. Definitely looks like an excellent game though, and I really enjoyed the trial of Tournament Dreams College B-Ball which was made by the same company.

it's really debatable which rosters are the best for 6 as its only been out for so long, but as for the league, we still need about 15-20 more members, so we'll see.

What about my idea of just having the AI control the teams that we don't.......couldn't we just do that?
