Scwible
I assume alot you guys listen to the score but he hasn't been on anymore. Plus, Sunday night he was on the Final Word on Fox and they said he was looking for a job. Anyone know why he left/got fired from the Score? I loved Boers and benstein and now i doubt it'll be anywhere as good as it was. This seems like the situation with Julie, dunno how to spell her last name so not gonna try, when she left because of the fact the program manager wanted her to talk all about the Cubs and she wanted to talk about the white sox more. I believe his contract ran out last week. Maybe he will go over to ESPN Radio and bring Boers with him. He can replace that awful morning show over there. I'd be all for that. Has J Hood shared anything about it? Maybe his website has somethign on it.
Mr. Showtime
His contract ran out last week, he's talking with the score about a new deal. However, Rober Feder the Sun-Times media columnist says Dan is seen as a real good reporter. So he may get out of the sports radio gig all together. Boers just signed a new deal with the Score, so he's not going anywhere. I'm sure the Score is trying to undercut him in terms of money, paying North that huge salary hurts them. qwerty
As long as Boers and bernstein stay together i will be happy
hammerhead johnson
TAKEN FROM THE SUN TIMES: Dan Bernstein has been off the air since Tuesday, when his contract expired as Terry Boers' midday talk show partner at WSCR-AM (670). While still considered highly likely, a renewal with the Score isn't Bernstein's only option. "We're taking a very careful look at the alternatives that have been presented to Dan," said Bernstein's agent, Todd Musburger. "People whom we respect regard Dan not only as a highly talented sports talk show host, but as a highly talented broadcaster." Bernstein, a Chicago native, joined the Score from WNTA-AM in Rockford in 1995.
BrandoFan
Berstein's absolutely moronic stance on Olympics notwithstanding, this guy is it when it comes to the sports entertainment niche. The best. He could do TV no prob.
Scwible
Ahhh, the whole contract deal didn't even enter my mind. I truely hope he goes back to the Score and keeps that mid-day show. Even if a crappy day is going on, i can usually get a laugh from those guys. Off the topic - Did anyone hear the "Games that time forgot" segment a few weeks ago on Friday fung? That was frigin great. Or the Ozzie sound alike contest, Ozzie said he woulda called in to try an win.

Or the Ozzie sound alike contest, Ozzie said he woulda called in to try an win. Great stuff! I haven't missed a show in quite some time now. But if Bernstein leaves, I'd like to see Steve Rosenbloom or J Hood team up with Terry Boers. I don't know how many of you guys wake up early on Saturday mornings, but the Steve Rosenbloom show is outstanding. I love that guy. He's on with Baum from 8 until 10 AM, and then he's on a solo mission from 10 to 12.
HuskyCaucasian
Boers and Bernsie were the best show on the Score. By far. I have met Bersie several times and he is a lot of fun. If the Score lets him walk, they may have lost a long time listener. Boers and Bersie were the only reason I listened to that station. Yet sadly, I ave to intern with North over the summe.r ick. oh well. As for the idea of him going to ESPN Radio 1000, i dont see that happening to be honest. As an afiliate of ESPN Radio, they are obligated to carry a lot of programming. And now with Marioti doing 9-11, that cuts back even more of the stuff they carry from ESPN Radio. While I think a combination of Bersie and Harry Tinowitz (sp?) would be really funny as a morning drive show, it wont happen. The Score let go a very talented individual. They will pay for that. He is 10x better than that blow hole North will ever be.
HuskyCaucasian
TAKEN FROM THE SUN TIMES: While still considered highly likely, a renewal with the Score isn't Bernstein's only option. Mike North's ungodly contract not withstanding, the Score has alwas been a very cheap station. (I referance the fact that to go to spring training, Boers and Bersie had to pay for it on their OWN cradit cards AND tooks flights that stoped like 2 times because it was the cheapest). DOnt be suprised if the score takes one of their lower payed guys and sticks him in there to replace Bersie.
hammerhead johnson
This happened with Terry back in September. People assumed that he was gone for sure, but ultimately, he came back. They'll find a way to keep Bernstein.
hammerhead johnson
A web search on Bernstein produced this gem. AMERICAN MORNING Shattered Image for Sammy Sosa? Aired June 5, 2003 - 07:42 ET THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: It is still the most talked-about story in Chicago and, in fact, the world of sports today again. His public image may be tarnished, but so far Sammy Sosa's bats are clean. Major League Baseball seized 76 last night after the Chicago Cubs slugger was ejected from a game Tuesday for using a bat filled with cork. There is no sign of cork in any of the other bats x-rayed. Sammy, for his part, has apologized to teammates and fans, and now waiting to hear what his punishment will be from baseball. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) SAMMY SOSA, CHICAGO CUBS RIGHT FIELDER: I'm man enough to take, you know, everything that I've done for, and I stood up yesterday and I came in and take the blame. But, you know, the media today, you know, they got me out there like I'm a criminal. (END VIDEO CLIP) HEMMER: What kind of fallout now from the cork caper? Dan Bernstein is a sports talk show host on WSCR radio in Chicago. He's outside of Wrigley Field, where it's starting to rain a little bit there in the windy city. Dan, good morning. Welcome to AMERICAN MORNING here on CNN. DAN BERNSTEIN, SPORTS RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: Good morning. How are you? HEMMER: I'm doing just fine. Thank you much. You have no love lost for Sammy Sosa. I read some of your comments this morning and again last night. Do the x-rays, though, they come back negative, does that mean Sammy Sosa now is in the clear? BERNSTEIN: No, it doesn't. I think his numbers here on in and in the past are forever tainted by this. He's lost his halo. He's lost his credibility. HEMMER: Well, he said he uses this cork bat in batting practice. How true is that for any major leaguer? BERNSTEIN: Regardless of whether or not he uses it in batting practice, he used it in a game. He cheated. He says in the papers today, I'm reading he's now saying amidst all of that outpouring of love last night, but he says everybody knows I am innocent. He's not innocent. He's been caught. And the larger question is now: What can we believe about his earlier denials regarding some other possible performance enhancements? HEMMER: Yes, well, let's keep it to the cork bat issue right here. What do you believe right now is proper punishment? In the past, we've seen 5 games, 8 games, 10 games. BERNSTEIN: I think it will probably come down to the 7-to-10 range, and probably on appeal then be pushed down somewhere between 5 and 7. My suspicion is that Major League baseball needs him involved in this weekend's series against the Yankees, and the powers that be will do everything they can to make sure he plays against New York. HEMMER: Well, you are somewhat cynical, aren't you, Dan? BERNSTEIN: Well, I have trouble believing Sammy after what I've heard. I think when you're in this business a long time you get a pretty good built-in shockproof lie detector, as Hemingway once called it. HEMMER: Listen, what's the reaction in Chicago? What are fans in saying? BERNSTEIN: The reaction is interesting. I think there are a lot of critical thinkers who don't buy a word of what Sammy Sosa is saying and who do believe this is a black mark on his career and his legacy. There are others whom you saw last night giving him this inexplicable and disappointing standing ovation. I don't know how they could explain it to their kids if their kids were with them. And I know that for years, this team for decades has been known as lovable losers, and a lot of the fans here have celebrated this lovable losing. But for the first time, we've created an amazing phenomenon, the lovable cheater. I'm wondering how long that lasts. HEMMER: Wow! You are strong, Dan. Listen, come back. We'll talk again as we wait to see how this thing plays out. Dan Bernstein, a sports talk show host there in Chicago.
BrandoFan
The Score let go a very talented individual. They will pay for that. He is 10x better than that blow hole North will ever be. Bernstein phones it in a lot and likes to goof off a little too much....but when the guy concentrates, he's absolutely riveting: smart as a whip, erudite, ballsy and effortlessly hilarious. Everybody else there, including Terry Boers, is pretty awful.
