NUKE_CLEVELAND
Given the fact that you are a paying customer, I'll let it slide this time. As much as I take swipes at the guys sometimes there's only a couple of players that I think are useless and need to go. Dumbass Caballo Billy Botch I give some s*** to the other guys when they have a bad day but those are the only 2 I wouldn't mind seeing leave now & making sure the door hit them in the behind on the way out. NUKE_CLEVELAND
What sort of stas would you guys be happy with for the year from valentin??? .270 25 hr's 65-70 rbi's and an ops of around .800 That would be excellent imo. He's on pace for those numbers you talked about but he needs to stop swinging at everything thrown at him.

You know, there isn't anyone on the team I feel that way about. There are guys I wouldn't mind getting traded if the team was improved and/or a weakness eliminated. But, in general, I don't have any particular player I want to see dumped.

NUKE_CLEVELAND
He would be joing crede there then. Crede has been clutch so far despite the low average & he's a second half player anyway. As long as he gets himself a new glove he's cool with me.
Jordan4life_2007
Valentin is a solid baseball player. Bottomline.

Yes because we all Cliff Politte and Damaso Marte have been doing SO much better than Koch. :headshake Nuke would bash Koch if he ended up with 70 saves and an ERA of 0.50, but thats ok, Iexpect that from him. Dick Allen
It was a matter of time before the wolves came out "oooooing" out da ol' woodwork. One bad game to be precise. It doesn't matter that Jose smoked the ball off Santana and Romero, both tough lefties, just 2 days ago.....It doesn't matter that Willie Harris is much worse against them, in general and that progress Jose showed against lefties in Spring Training was enough to convince Ozzie that he could be tolerable against them.......Which he was, btw, with 300+ OBP coming into tonight's game. Valentin haters amuse me. I can't wait for him to have 2 straight bad games....All hell will break loose. One bad game? He is a career .207 hitter against LHP with no power. This year in 42 AB he has 8 hits 2 rbi and 0 HR. Oh, and 19 k's. If Ozzie must play him against LHP, they should let the pitcher hit, and DH for Valentin. cwsox
I just think instead of living day by day people should look at the big picture and calm down. We're tied for first without our offense in its highest gear (crede struggling, Jose struggling, CF a mess). Maybe we can all just have fun watching a first place team for awhile and wait for something truly drastic to happen before going nuts. Maybe? yes, I agree a whole lot

I would kiss your ass at the corner of State & Madison at high noon if that ever happened. Botch has been worthless since he got here & 2 or 3 good outings in a row after all the damage he's done isint going to convince me that he's a quality closer. Come talk to me when he has a full season that can be considered successful.
AssHatSoxFan
3 more Ks for valentin tonight!
NUKE_CLEVELAND
Valentin with 7 straight K's before finally making some contact & dumping a weak single into short left. At least on the last 2 strikeouts he laid off the curveball & made the opposing pitcher K him with a fastball. Maybe if we send him up there with a telephone pole he'll make some good contact. NUKE_CLEVELAND
Valentin is struggling right now. But he'll snap out of it and get back to helping this team. I know he had a really big problem with strikeouts in his rehab stint. Is it possible they brought him back too soon?

I don't know if it's that. But everybody knows Jose has his hot and cold streaks. He's in a cold one right now. But we all know how dangerous he is when he gets hot. EvilMonkey
But we all know how dangerous he is when he gets hot. We also know how dangerous he is when he throws the ball to first. That is, assuming he can field it cleanly. All this talk about how he can/can't hit lefties, what about his crappy fielding? and throwing? I would much rather have had Graffanino there, at 1/3 the cost, than Jose. Since when does 'clubhouse leader' show in the game stats? Strikeouts and errors do. :headshake

Some games I think Jose is playing soccer instead of baseball with all his boots. Also, the safest place to be is on the dunk tank seat when Valentin is throwing at the target. Fotop
It could be a lot worse...we could have Jeter for 17million a year. What's he hitting these days? .190?
