Jordan4life_2007
main story on chisox.com Wow. I guess there's nothing wrong with that. I just can't imagine a team that's choked away the last 3 years getting big headed over a 1 gm lead on May 28th.
AngelasDaddy0427
Well they are going against the hottest team in the AL next. More then likely he just wants to make sure that they keep their heads out of their asses and the offense doesn't go to sleep...
Texsox
Great move. In Blanchard's book the One Minute Manager a key concept is to find your people doing something right and heaping on the praise. Make certain they can reconnect with that feeling when they need it. I always thought meetings when times are good were more productive then when times were bad. I liked the signing of Oz when it happened and continue to like what he is doing.
mreye
That is so true, Tex. You don't have to go to a Manager school to know that. All you have to be is an employee. It sucks to do your job exceptionally well and get no "pat on the back."
greasywheels121
The article for the people to lazy to go link over to Chisox.com Guillen calls meeting CHICAGO -- A manager usually reserve team meetings for points in the season when his team is truly struggling. That's not the situation currently playing out with the White Sox, who entered Thursday's series finale against the Rangers one-half game ahead of the Minnesota Twins in the Central Division. But if Ozzie Guillen has proven one thing through his early stages as the White Sox manager, it's that the book most team leaders go by isn't sitting on his office shelf. Guillen called a team meeting prior to the contest with the Rangers, talking about winning and striving to get better with each and every game. The meeting also included non-players and coaches, such as head groundskeeper Roger Bossard. "You have to meet with everyone to show how you feel," Guillen said. "When you are winning, you are winning from the parking lot guy right up to the owner. Everyone contributes to winning pennants. That's the way we are playing right now. "It's time to stand up and play as a champion, as a team. We are in first place, but I don't think we've played the way I want them to play. You have to tell your players to try to get better and [you have to] get the best out of them." The question of the timing of the meeting, which lasted 15 minutes, was brought up a couple of times to Guillen as he addressed the media during Thursday's pregame. After all, the White Sox are coming off of a 4-0 whitewashing of a team that hadn't been shut out all season and have won six of their last eight games. But Guillen is one who stresses the positive and building confidence over anything negative. Thursday's talk was no different. "Most managers have a meeting because they are in last place," Guillen said. "They do a meeting because something wrong happens, because they don't like the way [their team] played. "You usually have the meeting when you are trying to dig yourself out. But now we can have the meeting while we are thinking positive and believe we can do it, before we go to the place where we want to go. We should play better, and I think we can play better." IlliniKrush
I heard Boers talking about this on the Score, but wasn't sure if they were joking or not. That's pretty unique stuff though. Shows just how big of a team/organization guy he is. Wants everyone to enjoy this and feel part of it.
witesoxfan
In the article, he mentions how he thinks the team can play better. If I understood it correctly, he called the meeting prior to last night's game. Am I the only one who thinks that maybe we played just a little better then we did the previous night? I mean, we allowed 10 hits, but allowed 0 runs. Is that playing better, or getting lucky...or is it both? I like this team's chances, especially heading into June. I hate to make predictions, so I won't do that...but I think we could very well see a big time hot streak come up. Maybe win 8 in a row, maybe 10 in a row, maybe 12 in a row, maybe 15 of 17, something like that. They are playing very well right now, and are heading into their best month. June could be the month where we win a bunch of games, take an 8 game lead of the division, and start to run away.
IlliniKrush
I wouldn't mind a nice margin going into July, and i feel this team can get hot as well...but a 15 game winning streak?
witesoxfan
I wouldn't mind a nice margin going into July, and i feel this team can get hot as well...but a 15 game winning streak? 15's too much. That's why I said 15 of 17, as in going 15-2 over a stretch of 17 games. But I do feel they can get to 12. If they can find some success from the #5 spot, they could seriously get rolling. IMO, the lack of a #5 pitcher is what has caused this team to not get rolling. If they can get a #5 pitcher who can give them 5-6 innings on a consistent basis with an ERA of somewhere around 4.50-5.00, they are looking damn good, and if we can get an ace, that pushes Scho back into the #5 spot, and he only leads the league in QS. That's just one of the reasons I feel an ace pushes us over the top. It completes the rotation and makes us that much more dangerous. If we can get another ace pitcher, that 15 game win streak COULD happen. If all 5 starters can go through a stretch of having quite a few QS's, we could win a hell of a lot of games. IlliniKrush
Alright, good deal, i read that as or as i was reading it fast I'd take a nice 6-7 game win streak at this point, i don't even need 12.

I don't either. 6 or 7 would probably put us 3 or 4 games ahead of the Twins going into interleague play. I would like that.
witesoxfan
It all comes down to having a 5th starter. How many 4 game winning streaks have we had this year??? We get a 5th starter, we are golden. I don't know how many 4-game winning streaks they've had, but I'm sure they've had 1 or two. Either that, or they've had back-to-back 2-game winning streaks with the one loss in between being the #5 starter...I know this was the case in Minnesota(well, we didn't have back-to-back 2-game winning streaks, but the one loss of that series was from the #5 spot)
