DBAHO
CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox sent left-handed reliever Kelly Wunsch back to Triple-A Charlotte after Friday night's win over Anaheim and will call up Jon Rauch to start Saturday's game against the Angels. The 6-foot-11 Rauch was 5-2 with a 3.04 ERA at Charlotte. He made eight appearances with the White Sox in 2001 and was 2-1 with a 6.59 ERA. Wunsch made three scoreless appearances with Chicago after being recalled from Charlotte on May 19. He originally was optioned to Charlotte on May 10 after doing a rehabilitation assignment with the Knights because of a shoulder problem. Gene Honda Civic
That really sucks for him he is getting treated like s***. If Kelly could actually pitch right now he'd be with the big club -- He's not being treated like s***, And he knows it.

Gene Honda Civic
If he could actually pitch? What do you mean by that? It's not liek he's had an oppurtunity. He's been quoted himself as saying he's throwing Junk right now.... I may be drunk but I know I used the words "right Now" --- He knows he's not in top condition, he's been injusred for quite a while, he does not make significant controbutions to this team until he is completely healthy and through throwing "junk"

Chisoxfn
His ERA may be good, but he's struggled with making a key pitch with runners on base...aka inherited runners.
beck72
Kelly is now behind Cotts and Marte, no matter what he's done in the past. He doesn't have near the same success vs RH hitters as he does LHP. The Sox have no room for a situational LHP. In looking at his appearances with the Sox, I agree w/ Kelly--he's throwing junk. The Sox can do without a junk thrower. Even last year when he was going good, Kelly was allowing a lot of inherited runners to score. The last one he let in, he gave a RH batter a BP fastball down the middle. Sorry Kelly but it's time to go.
JDsDirtySox
If he could actually pitch? What do you mean by that? It's not liek he's had an oppurtunity. Kelly COULD NOT get the job done... Plain and Simple. I believe he mad 3 apperances. I remember him not getting the job done in two of them. 1. Brought in to face Twins lefty Justin Morneau. WALK 2. Brought in to face Rangers lefty Hank Blalock. BASE HIT If you are gonna be a lefty specialist, you have to be on the money nearly every time out. I understand he didn't get much of an oppurtunity, but Kelly had to prove he deserved a spot on this team... and he didn't do it.
YASNY
It's a shame Kelly's being "treated like s***", but this is all about winning a division. Not sentimentality.

DBAHO
They have been trying to trade him since spring training..... this has been coming for a long time now, it is not new. It's not a buyer's market for pitching right now. We could always trade him to a team that desperately needs bullpen help like Cleveland, but then we'd be helpin a division rival. I think Kelly needs to focus on gettin his stuff back, because he knows at his best, there is a spot for him in this bullpen, he just has to put the performances on the board. Rex Hudler
I am not sure there is a spot for him in the bullpen, even at his best. Wunsch is very one-dimensional. Keeping a lefty specialist like Kelly almost necessitates keeping an extra pitcher and that is not always in a team's best interests. If Cotts ever pitches again (of course he'll have to shake the rust off) and continues to do well, there is no need for Wunsch. Cotts can get both lefties and righties out. AngelasDaddy0427
I agree with the rest of you who said trade him. As much as i'm a fan of his and as talented as I think he is I'd rather seeing him be solid for a major league team anywhere then for us to just waste him in the minors. He deserves better then that
elrockinMT
I like Kelly Wunsch, but I think he is trade bait right now. But, I am not so convinced that Mike jackson or Politte are going to keep doing the job. Politte has alot of upside to him, but he needs something more than that heater that he can't always locate. Jackson is a veteran, but not always consistent. Wunsch could still be with the Sox this year again.
BrandoFan
I am not sure there is a spot for him in the bullpen, even at his best. Wunsch is very one-dimensional. Rex, when Wunsch was healthy last year (March-May), he was putting up gaudy numbers that would make Bajenaru cry. Against lefties AND righties. I am not sure if he can regain the velocity (at his best he threw about 88), but you're understimating what he can do if 100% healthy-wise. And carrying an extra pitcher is GOOD if said pitcher dominate in the 40+ innings of work. The goal is to WIN games, remember?

I'd rather have a pitcher who can go more than a hitter or two and have an extra guy on the bench. Wunsch was definitely better last year than I thought he would be, but how often was Kelly Wunsch used in key situations when the game was on the line last year? His 25 walks in 36 innings wasn't too impressive either. I'd also like to see how he did with inherited runners as well. That can tell you more about a reliever than his ERA sometimes. I just don't see Wunsch as that great a pitcher.
HighHeat45
Wunch is gone, he says "I won't be back in Chicago this year", im not sure why though http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/cws/news/cws...s_cws&fext=.jsp
Chisoxfn
Its tough for Wunsch. I hope he gets healthy and I know he'll find a spot somewhere else. He's a good guy and I wish him nothing but the best in the future.

I just don't see Wunsch as that great a pitcher. Not if that pitcher can't pitch. Rick White could log some innings......Flexibility is overrated. Perez sucks. Gload sucks. Whereas Kelly Wunsch at his best (not now obvisouly) would be Sox' 2nd or 3rd best BP option. Like I said, from beginning of ST to late May 2003, Wunsch was untouchable. 0.00 ERA, 7 measly singles given up, a whole bunch of K's, ridiculously low whip in about 25 innings........Then, I think he lost velocity, confidence in his fastball and was very mediocre the rest of the way. Great pitcher he is not, but considering both Koch and Politte suck, Marte is blowing saves left and right, Cotts is an erratic rookie and Adkins is due for a rude awakening.....a healthy Kelly Wunsch is/will be badly needed. Right now he is throwing 83-85 mph and it's not gonna get it done, but if he ever gets the arm speed up to par, he'd be more than welcome in the pen - Sox are gonna need every arm they could use throughout this season. Plus he is cheap. Wait until he regains velocity, puts up some 0's on the board and only THEN he will have good trade value. Right now you'd be giving him away. Finally, Sox ARE treating him like s***. Klassy Kenny and his minions in full force.

I don't think we should trade anyone to any team that is competing. Cleveland is no huge deal to me. Kelly can get fired up to face his one Sox batter a game for all I care.
