Interesting obscure stat about Paulie

Did you know that Paul Konerko leads all full time 1bs in the AL in HRs and RBIs with 11 and 35?

Ortiz and Hafner have more RBIs but are DHs primarily.

Interesting...

I voted him in as a write in at first base on the All Star Ballot.

I highly doubt he gets into the all-start game but that would be sweet.

Paul has been solid this year. He's almost made me forget about a horrible 2003. Key word being "almost".

Oh no no, he and Koch won't get off that easily.

They lead the Sox to ALCS in 2004, then they are forgiven for essencially killing our chances in 2003.

But Paulie is doing his job so far and it's great to see. His GIDP are down, his clutch hitting is WAAAAY up (.440 with RISP? Wow) and his defense has improved dramatically. He even scored a few times from 1st on a double down the line. :headbang

Now call the Dodgers and offer them Konerko + prsopect for Perez. Then use the 3 Mill saved (12 Mill if you count 2005) and go after Palmeiro or Finley - and another cheap 1B type who can spell against LHP.

That's a plan I can live with. We could really use both Perez and Finley.

PK is back to his previous 4 years style of production.  2003 was a fluke, its as simple as that.

Yah, when you look at how each year from 99-02 were almost identical for PK in virtually every stat, it makes sense that last year was just a bad year, and that 99-02 numbers are what to expect from him.
