Soxfest
The Blackhawks think making the playoffs as an 8TH seed and playing 2 home playoff games is a sucessful season. M.Smith is a total douchebag ever heard him talk , he is clueless, all you here every year is we DRAFTED GREAT yet no superstars ever emerge. I have attended my last game under Wirtz ownership, If he does not care I sure as HELL do not anymore.
CubKilla
I gave up on the team and Dollar Bill 2 years ago when me, Guido, and a friend of our's went to go see the Hawks set a NHL record for least SOG against the St. Louis Blues. 10 SOG the WHOLE FREAKING GAME! Pathetic.
Chisoxfn
They need to sign that one guy they drafted so he's ready next year. I think he tore his acl or something and is done for this season but make sure he plays next year.

And you cannot just sign a player after drafting him and expect him to come to the big club. He should play at least an entire year in Norfolk in order to condition for the highest league, the NHL. The Critic
Maybe somebody can help me here - my cousin asked me this yesterday, and I honestly had no answer for him: When was the last time the Hawks signed a top-tier free agent? Not a has-been like Rick Vaive, Steve Thomas or Bob Probert, and not a bargain-basement problem child like Theo Fleury. Have the Hawks EVER spent the money for a true impact player? I don't think they ever have...maybe Michel Goulet? Or did they trade for him? Either way, that was so long ago, it's pathetic.

Even though Goulet was a good pick-up by the Blackhawks, I think most will admit he was on a slight downslide from the time the Blackhawks picked him up simply because of age. I think the last time the Hawks went out and got a true impact player was when they traded Denis Savard for Chris Chelios. That was more than 10 years ago under Keenan. I know there were more players involved in that deal, but I can't remember them off hand. And that deal wasn't popular at the time because Hawks fans loved Savvy but Chelios fit into the Hawks medieval "defensive style" of hockey. From what I know he's ready to play in the NHL. This kid is supposed to be completely ready and I think he played in the professional leagues in Europe. I've read a couple pieces on him and everyone says he's the real deal and will make an immediate impact.
BridgeportHeather
Well, just to keep safe here, I'd see about putting him in Norfolk first after the injury he's encountered. But Ruutu IS the real deal. Sign him, Wirtz!!!
Mathew
Ruutu is the best player outside the NHL and should be the next Petr Forsberg, and hasn't been lights out in the Finnish elite league. But enough to play in the NHL, Wasted Mathew
IlliniKrush
Ruutu is ready for the NHL but Smith wouldn't give him the "performance bonuses" he wanted. This thread seems like something that should be on www.blackhawkzone.com Greatest hockey site on the web, check it out.
