DBAHO
Wow, that's a real tough break for the A's, they need all the hitters they can get.
qwerty
They don't have much offense as it is.
mmmmmbeeer
Wow, that's a real tough break for the A's, they need all the hitters they can get. Not to mention my fantasy team :banghead
YASNY
Now let's offer them PK for Zito.
FlaSoxxJim
Dang, that is rough. I'm sure Marte is feeling like s*** over it.
southsider2k5
Wow. That is tough, espesially since 0-2 the last thing Dam wanted to do was hit Chavez.
Texsox
At least we have somebody that can throw some heat.
DBAHO
Now let's offer them PK for Zito. If only Billy Beane didn't resign Scott Hatteberg to that nice contract in the offseason huh. They'll be in the market for a second baseman and third baseman no doubt, they'll prob try to sign Aaron Boone now.
The Beast
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1814143 Um, sorry Chavez...it just said he got hit on the hand?
winninguglyin83
I hope Mulder doesn't go for payback today, even though everybody knows it was not intentional.
hammerhead johnson
Wow. He'll probably be out until the all star break, what with the rehab assignment after at least three or four weeks. The elite third basemen in the American League are now MIA. No more Glaus, Mueller, Chavez, etc. That leaves PAY ROD. Oh yeah, and Mora has been starting at 3B. chimpy2121
Chavez breaks hand.... Out "at least" 3 weeks, from the a's website
AngelasDaddy0427
Poor guy... Marte should of never of been out there that inning anyway. Shingo should of been allowed to pitch the entire inning.... Ohh well.
whitesoxin'
That is too bad for Chavez, he is a great player. It is the nature of the game though...

DonkeyKongerko
More fantasy team injuries please. Don't forget the A's almost always seem to have a 10+ game win streak after the break.
witesoxfan
You get hit on the hand by a 95 MPH fastball, and good things will not happen. This could be the beginning of the end for the A's this year.
BrandoFan
You get hit on the hand by a 95 MPH fastball, and good things will not happen. This could be the beginning of the end for the A's this year. A's are the Twins/Cubs of ALW. They'll find a way to win it - without Giambi, without Tejada, without Justice, without Hernandez, without Isringhausen, without Foulke. As long as they have Hudson-Mulder-Zito-Harden-Redman, they will be in almost every game. Kotsay has been unstoppable lately. Chavez, Hattenberd, Durazo, Dye, Byrnes can all hit. They play good defense as a team and don't run themselves out of innings with stupid small-ball (as opposed to the smart small-ball as practiced by Marlins). Billie Beane still needs a BIG bat (just as Twins badly needed a Shane Stewart infusion last year) at the all-star break so the A's can get on their patented 2nd half move.....and his team will be more than good enough to win ALW even without a strong bullpen. Unless of course Garret Anderson comes back completely healthy and Vlad's back holds for the entire season (unlikely), in which case Angels will challenge them. Texas are pretenders and will finish below the Mariners.
sox-r-us
This is Kenny William's way of getting back at Billy Beane

BridgeportHeather
Only 2 or 3 more injuries and.... "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE STARTING THIRD BASEMAN FOR THE AMERICAN LEAGUE ALL-STARS...... JOE CREDE!!!!!!!" I think Joe Torre would rather bring Mike Caruso back and stick him at the hot corner rather than allowing Crede to embarrass himself and all Sox fans in Houston this July!!! Reddy
If only Billy Beane didn't resign Scott Hatteberg to that nice contract in the offseason huh. i dont think hatteberg was the problem. The guy is awesome in the ways Billy's looking for. His OBP is good and he's got awesome discipline at the plate. He's a good player. I think the real problem is the middle infield... crosby will be good but right now he's their version of joe crede...
1549
I feel bad for Chavez. When he decided to stay with the A's for less money he became one of my favirote players.
T R U
Dang, that is rough. I'm sure Marte is feeling like s*** over it. I really doubt Marte lost sleep over that.... He didnt mean to hit him but he isnt gonna haunt his dreams, it happens...
